Judging!!

Few verses are more misunderstood or misused than the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:1, "Judge not, lest you be judged!" In our day of moral relativism, blame-shifting, and self-justification, this verse is regularly pulled out of context to silence any voice that dares to call sin what it is. Yet such misuse turns the Lord's words on their head, distorting both His meaning and His purpose.

First, what Jesus is NOT saying: He is not forbidding all forms of judgment. Scripture itself commands believers to discern between good and evil (Hebrews 5:14), to expose the fruitless deeds of darkness (Ephesians 5:11), and to confront a brother or sister who is in sin (Galatians 6:1). In fact, just a few verses later in Matthew 7, Jesus warns against giving what is sacred to dogs (verse 6), and identifying false prophets by their fruits (verses 15-20) both of which require spiritual discernment and righteous judgment.

Clearly then, Jesus is not promoting a blind tolerance of sin, or moral indifference. Nor is He forbidding the correction of others. His very command, "then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye" implies that helping a brother overcome sin is a necessary and loving work. But it must be done with humility, self-awareness, and sincerity. What Jesus IS condemning, is self-righteous, hypocritical judgment, the kind that sees minor faults in others, while ignoring major ones in ourselves. He is exposing the pride that delights in criticizing others from a position of moral superiority, while remaining blind to our own sin.

The image which Jesus paints is intentionally exaggerated in order to make His point: a man with a plank sticking out of his eye, trying to remove a speck of dust from someone else's eye. None are more unjust in their judgments of others, than those who have a high opinion of themselves. Until we have first humbled ourselves before God, repented of our own sin, and been cleansed by His grace we are not fit to help others. We must first judge ourselves rightly only then will we be able to see clearly and act compassionately.

In the end, this passage is not a prohibition against loving confrontation. The real force of Jesus' words is this: Judge yourself first. Deal with your own sinful heart, before you presume to deal with another's. And when you do speak to others about their sin, let it be from a place of grace, truth, and godly love never from hypocrisy. Judgment that aligns with God's Word, is exercised in humility and aims at restoration--is not only permitted it is commanded.

The problem is not judgment itself, but self-righteous, hypocritical, or unjust judgment.

Mediate Upon Judgment

Meditate often on these four last things: Death, which is most certain. Judgment, which is most strict. Hell, which is most doleful. Heaven, which is most delightful. Meditate upon JUDGMENT, which is most strict. "We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:10)

Those who will not come before His mercy-seat, shall be forced to come before His judgment-seat. Those who will not hear His Word, shall feel His Sword. Those who are graceless in this day, will be speechless in that day. At the world's end, such will be at their wits' end, to see: the earth flaming, the heavens melting, the stars falling, the graves opening, the judgment hastening, the sun and moon mourning, Christ and His angels coming. He who comes to raise the dead, will also come to judge the dead.

Oh sirs, the great day to great sinners will be a dreadful day, when they shall see Christ coming in the clouds: with great power and glory, crowned with dignity, enraged with anger, and attended with His angel reapers. He will bring all kings and nobles, high and low, rich and poor, to His judgment bar. And there He will judge them, not by the whiteness of their faces, but by the blackness of their hearts. "He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity." (Psalm 98:9)

You who make no account of His coming, how can you give an account at His coming? Sirs, meditation on judgment, may make you judgment proof. Those who now judge themselves in their own private sessions, shall not be judged by Christ at His great white throne judgment.

God's Judgment

Not all the vials of judgment that have or shall be poured out upon the wicked world, nor the flaming furnace of a sinner's conscience, nor the irreversible sentence pronounced against the rebellious demons, nor the groans of the damned creatures give such a demonstration of God's hatred of sin, as the wrath of God let loose upon His Son!

Never did divine holiness appear more beautiful and lovely, than at the time our Savior's countenance was most marred in the midst of His dying groans when God had turned His smiling face from Him, and thrust His sharp knife into His heart, which forced that terrible cry from Him, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me!" (Matthew 27:46)

The Pouring Forth

Mercy is God's Alpha, justice is His Omega. When God's mercy is despised then His justice takes the throne! God is like a prince, who first hangs out the white flag of mercy; if this wins men they are happy forever! But if they remain rebellious, then God will put forth His red flag of justice and judgment. If His mercy is despised, His justice shall be felt!

God is as just as He is merciful. As the Scriptures portray Him to be a very merciful God, so they portray Him to be a very just God. Witness His casting the angels out of heaven and His binding them in chains of darkness until the judgment of the great day.

Witness His turning Adam out of Paradise. Witness His drowning of the old world. Witness His raining hell out of heaven upon Sodom. Witness all the troubles, losses, sicknesses, and diseases, which are in the world. Witness His treasuring up of wrath against the day of wrath. But above all, witness the pouring forth of all His wrath upon His bosom Son, when Jesus bore the sins of His people, and cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me!"

As I know not the man who can reckon up his mercies; so I know not the man who can sum up the miseries which are coming upon him for his sins. God is slow to anger but He recompenses His slowness with grievousness of punishment. If we abuse His mercy to serve our lust then He will rain hell out of heaven, rather than not visit for such sins.

Men shall be deeper in hell, because heaven was offered unto them and they abused God's mercy. Sins against God's mercy, will bring upon the soul the greatest misery!

[Thomas Brooks]

The Stream of Time

O my Father, You are daily loading me with Your benefits giving me unnumbered causes for gratitude and thankfulness. No earthly friend could have loved and cared for me like You. Oh may the life You are thus preserving by Your unceasing bounty be unreservedly dedicated to Your praise.  O my Father, keep me mindful that I am soon to be done with this fleeting world; that I am fast borne along the stream of time to the ocean of endless futurity!

May I be living in a constant state of preparedness for that solemn hour when small and great shall stand before You, and the books shall be opened. Train me for eternity! Let me not be frittering away these fleeting, but precious moments. Impress on me the solemn conviction that as men live so do men die; that as death leaves me so judgment will find me; and that as judgment finds me so eternity will keep me.  Oh let death leave me falling asleep in Jesus, united to Him by a living faith so that judgment may find me seated at His right hand, listening to the joyous welcome, "Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world!"

Blessed Jesus, all my hope of a glorious resurrection centers in You. I look to You as the strong tower which cannot be shaken. I flee anew to the holy sanctuary of Your covenant love. Sheltered there, amid a dissolving earth, and burning worlds I shall be able joyfully to utter the challenge, "Who shall separate me from the love of Christ?"

Keep me from all negligence and unwatchfulness. Trim my flickering lamp. Let me live with Your Judgment-throne in view. May I ever remember--that I must soon give an account of myself to You, the infallible searcher of all hearts. May I feel that all the talents and means which You have given me are trusts to be laid out for You. When you come to demand a reckoning, may I not be among the number of those who have hidden their talent in the earth, and have the cheerless retrospect of a misspent life. May every providential voice sound loud in my ears, "Arise and depart for this is not your rest, because it is defiled it is ruined, beyond all remedy!"

Make me more heavenly-minded. Give me more of a pilgrim attitude and a pilgrim spirit. May I ever feel that my true home is above and that I am here on earth, but a wayfarer and sojourner, as all my fathers were. May I attain, as I advance nearer to Heaven, the blessed habit of a holy life, declaring plainly that I am seeking a heavenly home.

I delight often to anticipate that happy time, when I shall suffer no more and sin no more!

A Day of Great Surprise

The day of judgment will also be a day of great surprise, both to saints and sinners. So Christ expressly informs us: "Many will say to me on that day: 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers!'" Matthew 7:22-23

Many will be saved, and many will be lost; contrary to the judgments formed of them by their neighbors. But more will be saved, and more will be lost contrary to the opinions they had of themselves!

Christians will wonder that they are saved, and how they are saved, and they will wonder that they should be commended for deeds full of imperfection.

The wicked will be amazed that they are lost, and how they are lost; and especially that God puts no value upon their self-righteousness.

The sons of God will receive more honor than they ever thought of claiming;
while the wicked will find their hopes perishing one by one, and their lamp going out in obscure darkness.

Christians will wonder why they should be saved. Unbelievers will wonder why they should not be saved.

The wicked will ask, "What have we done amiss?" The saved will say, "All our righteous acts are like filthy rags!"

The wicked will say that he has done the best he can. The righteous will say, "Behold, I am vile!"

"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Matthew 25:46. Nothing can reverse, nor arrest the judgments of that day. Nothing can alter or vary the decree of the Judge. It shall stand forever. The judgment of the great day will be irrevocable and everlasting in its effects. It will bind forever.

Where Are You Going?

We have only one life to live; only one! Think of this for a moment. Here we are in this world of time, making the journey of life. Each day we are farther from the cradle and nearer to the grave! Solemn thought!

See the mighty concourse of human lives; hear their heavy tread in their onward march. Some are just beginning life's journey; some are midway up the hill, some have reached the top, and some are midway down the western slope. But where are we all going? Listen, and you will hear but one answer, "Eternity!" Beyond the fading, dying gleams of the sunset of life lies a boundless, endless ocean called Eternity! There, you and I are daily traveling.

Be Ready to Leave

How you leave this world at the moment of death, the spiritual condition you are in is how you will meet God in eternity. Unless one has been born again, who has placed their faith in Christ and what he did on the cross, how you die is how you'll stand in that great and terrible day.

Works won't save you. Keeping to the law won't save you. Being a nice person won't save you. Being a good Father or Mother won't save you. Being a member of a church, or never missing Sunday church won't save you. None of those things amount to any level of righteousness for salvation, only faith in the finished work of the cross will redeem man from his sins. Play with your soul and you play with eternity.

[Christopher Gregory]

Romans 10:9-10 ... That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2 Corinthians 5:10 ... For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Acts 4:12 ... Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Revelation 20:12 ... And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The Almost Christian

Reader! Meditate much on the strictness and suddenness of that judgment-day, through which you must pass, into your everlasting state; wherein God, the impartial judge, will require an exact account at your hands of all your talents and blessings.

You must then account  for time; how you have spent that;   for estate; how you have employed that;  for strength; how you have laid out that;  for afflictions and mercies; how they have been improved;  for the duties; how they have been discharged;  and for means of grace; how they have been improved.

Look! how we have sowed here on earth; we shall reap for eternity!

Reader, these are things which above all others, deserve most of, and call loudest for our utmost care and endeavors; though they are least minded, by most people.

Consider what a spirit of atheism (if we may judge the tree by the fruits and the principle by the practice) the hearts of most men are filled with, who live, as if  God were not to be served,  nor Christ to be sought,  nor lust to be mortified,  nor self to be denied,  nor the Scripture to be believed,  nor the judgment-day to be minded,  nor hell to be feared,  nor heaven to be desired,  nor the soul to be valued;but give up themselves to a worse than brutish sensuality, "Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more!" (Ephesians 4:19). This is a reflection fit enough to break our hearts!

[Matthew Mead]

Acts 17:31 ... Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Ecclesiastes 11:9 ... Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

Romans 14:10 ... But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Galatians 6:7 ... Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

The Prosperity of The Wicked

In the midst of his soliloquizings and moralizings, King Solomon interjected an occasional counsel or exhortation: "Moreover, I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, there was wickedness; and that in the place of righteousness, wickedness was there also." (Ecclesiastes 3:16), and he bids his readers not to be surprised or stumbled thereat.

Fallen human nature being what it is, we should not think it strange that the strong oppress the weak, or that justice should be corrupted by those in high places. Man is made to reap the bitter harvest of his apostasy from God.

Yet, however perplexed we may be over the success which so often rewards the workers of iniquity, let us be assured that nothing escapes the notice of the Most High God, that He "regards" and has wise reasons for permitting the frequent miscarriage of human justice by the magistrates and rulers of earth. There is One infinitely above to whom they must yet render an account, and from whom they will receive "a just recompense of reward."
[A. W. Pink]

Ecclesiastes 5:8 ... If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Job 12:6 ... The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

Psalm 73:3-4 ... For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.  For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

Ecclesiastes 3:17 ... I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
Jeremiah 12:1... Righteous art thou, O Lord, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

Hebrews 2:2-3 ... For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Judgment Seat

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:10-12 ❤

Judgment is Coming

The POTUS has betrayed the Word of God.  Yes, he has spit in the face of God!  There is no such thing as "same-sex marriage."   The Almighty has not and will not change His mind on this issue.   Yeshua Jesus is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)  God made marriage between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:6)  Homosexuality is [SIN] abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

Liberals and Black America that elected Obama have abandoned the only true God and His Living Word. They chose ungodly people to govern the nation.   If you are a born again believer, and you vote for this evil wicked man that has perverted God's definition of marriage, then you are part of the sin problem.

Judgment is coming.  REPENT!

James 4:4 ... Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Isaiah 5:20-21 ... Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

1 Peter 4:17-18 ... For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? ✞

The Rapture And Then, “All Hell On Earth”

This is a bible study to comfort those troubled by the present radio series, entitled “The Seven Years of Hell On Earth”. The rapture will, without question, occur before those seven horrible years. If you do not believe in the “Pre-Tribulation Rapture” there is no comfort for you.

Things you will learn in this study:

1. The Book of Genesis is absolute and literal.

2. The Ark and the flood was a model picture of the Pre-tribulation Rapture.

3. The judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah was also a type of the Rapture.

4. The daily tribulation we presently endure and the Great Tribulation are totally different.

5. God’s saints are loved and never made to suffer wrath with the wicked.

6. Jesus came to save and deliver His Church from the final wrath and judgment.

7. How could Jesus take His saints for His Bride after His wrath has bashed the life out of them.

8. The Rapture of the saints before the “HELL ON EARTH” is bedrock truth.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 ... For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (KJV)
