True Happiness!!

Happiness is the magic charm that the world is eagerly in search of. But the believer in Christ is its only possessor. He has found it and found it in Jesus. He has found it in a renunciation of self-righteousness, and in a humble reception of Jesus. There is no true happiness outside of Jesus! What true happiness can the heart feel while it is spiritually dead, its sins are unpardoned, it is under condemnation, and exposed to the wrath of a holy and just God?

Oh reader, do not dream of happiness, until you have gone as a repenting sinner to the cross of Christ! You may be a son or a daughter of affliction. In this furnace you may be chosen, and through this furnace, it may be the Lord's holy will that you should pass all your days. You may be a child of poverty, possessing but little of this world's comforts and you feel lonely, neglected, and despised.

Yet oh, look up Christian! You are precious in God's sight! You are as dear to Him as the pupil of His eye. His heart yearns over you with more than a mother's exquisite fondness for her child, because He has loved you with an everlasting love! And to the praise of the glory of His grace, He has accepted you in the Beloved. Realize this, and though rough and thorny your path may be, and fiery your furnace, and deep your poverty, and lonely your situation you shall experience a peace and a happiness to which the world around you is an utter stranger.

Ark of Presense

Soak in His instruction each day, then move out. Let the water of His words carry your boat into your day. It beats rowing on the sand of self. The Ark of His presence is the structure that carries the LIFE. All activity outside The Ark of His presence leads to death.

Abide in His love and His wisdom. Divine Design and destiny are accomplished when you are in alignment with His Will and His word. The greatest pillars of faith are those who settle into His peace and His care, even in the storms of life.

Rest in the boat of your mind, believing in His steadfast love for you. Rely on His care, not on the waves of this world. He has called you to perfect peace. He will speak “Peace” through you to calm fears and storms. To have His Spirit is to have His very Spirit. The works He did you will do also, by His Spirit. His peace passes all understanding. Abide in Him above all else and He will abide in you.

Isaiah 26:3 ... Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

The Peace of God ...

There are three words, pregnant with precious and important meaning, commonly used by the apostles in their salutations and benedictions, GRACE, MERCY, and PEACE. These words include everything which man needs or can desire. Peace is the legacy which Christ gave to his disciples: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you." (John 14:27)

And after his resurrection, the first time he met with his disciples when assembled together, he said, "Peace be unto you." He gives peace not as the world gives. He is the PRINCE OF PEACE, and his gospel is the "gospel of peace." It is called "the peace of God," because he is its author. It is a sweet and gentle stream which flows from the fountain of life beneath his throne. Happy is he who has received this heavenly gift; it will, in the midst of external storms and troubles, preserve his mind in a tranquil state. It is independent of external circumstances. It is most exquisitely enjoyed in times of affliction and persecution. "In the world you shall have tribulation; but these things have I spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace." (John 16:33)

It is a fruit of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace." (Galatians 5:22) It includes reconciliation with God. "Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Peace of conscience is a fruit of reconciliation with God. The blood which reconciles, when sprinkled on the conscience, produces a sweet peace which can be obtained in no other way. If the atonement of Christ satisfies the law which condemned us, and we are assured that this atonement is accepted for us, conscience, which before condemned, as being the echo of the law, is now pacified.

The peace of God also includes freedom from jarring, discordant passions of the mind. The wicked, however prosperous externally, can have no true peace within. Their ambition and pride and avarice, and love of ease and carnal indulgence, can never be harmonized. One may be the master-passion, but the others will arise and create disturbance and turmoil within. The only passion which effectually harmonizes the discordant passions of human nature, is the love of God. Wherever this is introduced, it will not only be predominant, but bring all other desires into willing subjection.

The peace of God is not a mere negative blessing, consisting in exemption from the misery of discord; it is a positive enjoyment of the purest, sweetest kind. It is a foretaste of the bliss of heaven. Nothing on earth is so delightful. It is therefore said to "pass understanding." (Philippians 4:7) No one could have thought man's miserable soul could possess such enjoyment in this world. But why is so little known of the peace of God in the experience of professing Christians? I leave everyone to answer for himself.

Perfect Peace ...

Sin is the seed, the source, the essence of unhappiness. "There is no peace to the wicked" (Isaiah 48:22) nor is there any happiness for the sinner in his sins. The carnal mind may find something like pleasure in carnal things but real, solid, lasting joy, cannot be found, never has been found by the sinner, until converted to God. Carnal pleasure is empty, fleeting, and unsatisfactory in its very nature!

The true Christian has enough to make him genuinely happy: All of his sins are forgiven and forgotten. He is adopted into God's family. His person is justified before God. He is clothed in the perfect righteousness of Jesus. He is a child of God. He is regenerated by the Holy Spirit. He has the Spirit of adoption in his heart. He is at peace with God, and God is at peace with him. All the promises of God are his, which represent Jehovah as pledged to support, sustain, comfort, supply, and bless him in time and eternity!

His God is with him. His God is for him. His God will never fail him in any trial, nor leave him under any circumstances for one moment. Such is the Christian's blessed state, and such are his blessed privileges though he may appear poor, afflicted, and despised among men. In proportion as sin is subdued, as sanctification is deepened, as the Savior is prized, as our talents are laid out for the Lord's glory, are we happy.

But if sin is allowed to conquer, if personal sanctification is neglected, if the intimations of the Holy Spirit are slighted then the believer is not and cannot be happy. Let the Christian therefore cleave unto the Lord with full purpose of heart, cultivate close fellowship with God, walk softly, uprightly, and daily with God. So will his peace be like a river, and his path be like the shining light which shines more and more unto the perfect day. (Proverbs 4:18)

Peace Boat

He (I AM) is with you in this season and always. Release the fear that gnaws away at your confidence. Rest in His care and know His angels rally around your circumstance. Quiet the waves in the peace of His mind and never leave the abiding in that boat.

Understand that He brings peaceable order to the pieces of your life as you submit them to Him. Quiet your heart and release the anxiety that creates confusion and fear. Follow His peace. Faith faces responsibility. Fear avoids it. Courage, discipline, faith, hope and love, move together and have His blessing. Greatness grows from this soil in all who follow its ways.

Set aside ‘time’. Then give yourself to those times, but always ‘abide’ in His love, in His Joy, for this is indeed your strength to do all things. Do what you can do in His peace and presence and release the rest. Stay in His love today above all else.

Religion V. Faith

Religion will constantly have the believer questioning their standing with God. Faith, on the other hand, sleeps with a clear conscience and a peaceful mind.

Reset!

Reset your heart back to your fellowship and do not ‘do’ in order to ‘get’.  Be with Him in His love for you and never leave that foundation. Even good works can become an idol when they become more important than Him.

Know that He sees you and your times are in His hands and nothing can keep you from your destiny, as long as you look to Him daily.

Sit on the lap of His love. Learn to listen and open to His love for you. This is and should always be the foundation for every good work. Release fear and control. Exchange them for Peace and Rest. Trust and Faith.

Perfect Peace.

Oh, the blessed restfulness of putting everything, physical, mental, and spiritual into my Father's hands and just leaving all there. When once faith can heartily make this transfer, all is well with soul, and its peace is perfect.

Draw Near.

Life isn't easy. It is full of struggles, eh? We can all testify to that but we shouldn't be surprised by it. God's Word makes it clear; in this world we will have trouble. Thankfully, as Christians, we don't have to face these things alone by trying to come up with some clever solutions-in our own strength. What we need to do is keep renewing our minds with Scripture, casting our burdens onto Him (without taking them back) and trusting who He is and what He has said; only then can true peace be ours in these difficult times.

Whatever struggle you are going through, however hard it may be, let me encourage you to draw near to God.

Knowing God

If we do not know Jesus for ourselves, by some spiritual discovery of his Person and work, what testimony have we of a saving interest in his grace? Because, there is no grace except that which flows through him, for "grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." This is what we should ever labor after.

Our Source

When we find ourselves depressed, down, irritated, annoyed, or otherwise unhappy, we need to return to the source of our joy, and then we will see those circumstances that are sapping our joy in perspective. The circumstances of this life will pale into insignificance when compared to that which we have received from God.

The Genesis of Peace

This world is full of unrest and turmoil. There is turmoil in hearts and homes, in communities, churches and nations. There is international turmoil, until the world is a seething mass of unrest. People are longing for peace, but peace can begin only when the turmoil in the world is removed, and it is removed only by the eradication of its cause. Unrest, wherever found, indicates irritation. Unrest is a fever. It is a symptom that something is not going right somewhere.

When there is not peace in the heart, it is because two forces are striving against each other. When the forces of nature are at rest then everything is quiet and peaceful. But when the strong wind rages across the face of the sea then the wild waves toss and roar. When it wrestles with the mighty forces then they sway and creak and strain. So it is in the human heart, in the family, the community, the church, the nation, and between the nations. Where there is not peace, it is because there is irritation, and the only way to bring peace is to remove the source of irritation.

If we do not have peace with God, it is because there is something causing irritation in the heart.  One thing that causes irritation and destroys peace, is SIN. We never can have peace with God, with sin in the heart. The soul can never be at rest with that quiet peaceable rest, while indulging in sin of any sort or while sin that has been indulged in is un-repented of. But there is a remedy for sin. That remedy is available today. So, reader, if your heart is not at peace with God because of sin, you may get that source of irritation out of your heart by confessing it and taking God's way out. Do this at once then his peace will fill your soul.

Another source of irritation in the soul is UNBELIEF. It is destructive of peace; so if we will have peace with God, calmness and rest in our souls, we may find it if we will believe in God. There is a sweet rest of soul that comes from trusting God, a peace that may be known in no other way than by trusting. The doubts and fears that irritate and trouble, that destroy the peace and bring heaviness, discouragement, and sometimes almost despair will vanish when belief comes into the heart; and peace like the calm after a great storm will settle down over the soul. But peace cannot come so long as unbelief irritates and annoys the soul.

Another thing that prevents peace in many a soul is SELF-WILL. There is a lack of submission to God's will, and so the relation with God cannot be a relation of peace and sweet confident trust. To have peace, we must rid ourselves of self-will. We must submit ourselves to the will of God. We must say from the bottom of our heart, "Not my will, but may Your will be done." We must be willing actively to engage in doing his will. Then the peace of God which passes all understanding, will keep our hearts and minds, and we shall know the blessedness of true rest of soul.

Self-will is the cause of the lack of peace that exists in many families. This one feels he must have his way; that one feels she must have her way; and so there is a clashing of wills that brings irritation, unrest, dissatisfaction, and results in ill feeling, resentment and bitterness.

Self-will brings unhappiness wherever it operates. Self-will is selfish; it is inconsiderate of others; it asserts its own right, to the exclusion of the rights of others. It will have its way, but when it has its way, it brings sorrow and unrest. Peace flies away from self-will. Peace cannot abide in the same heart or in the same home, with this destroyer of happiness.

Self-will in the church is the cause of more trouble than any other one thing. That disposition to demand that things go the way we think they ought to go, and the setting up of our will above the will of others, the winning of our way—may give us temporary pleasure of a certain sort. It may give us a selfish satisfaction that comes from having our own way but it will destroy the peace of the church and the peace of our own hearts.

Submitting our will, is the hardest thing we have to do, but it is the thing we must do before we can have true peace. Self-will is based on pride. Where there is contention in the family, in the community, in the church, in the nation, we can easily locate the trouble. We can easily find the root of the matter. The wise man tells us that, "Pride only breeds quarrels" (Proverbs 13:10). Here the destroyer of peace is traced back to his den. Excess of self-esteem, which is a form of pride, causes people to be self-willed, and self-will destroys peace.

The nations could be at peace, if they would justly esteem each other and each other's rights—but this they will not do. In the same manner, communities could be at peace, but pride brings contention. Homes could be at peace, churches could be at peace if they would get rid of that pride that breeds quarrels. It is useless to deny the source of contention. People do not feel disposed to contend, unless they have pride in their hearts.

To be sure we must contend for the faith sometimes, but this is quite another thing. We may contend for the faith in a thoroughly peaceable manner or we may do so in a self-willed contentious manner. The latter never brings peace, but only turmoil and division.

Would you have peace with God? Do you wish rest, comfort, and happiness in your soul? God is not your enemy. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peaceableness (Jeremiah 29:11), and he tells us that the effect of righteousness, shall be peace (Isaiah 32:17). To be at peace with God is to get rid of those disturbing elements in our own hearts and minds get rid of our sins by trusting in Christ for salvation get rid of all unbelief by taking God at his word and trusting him sincerely get rid of our self-will through the blood of Christ and through submitting our wills to God then we may have peace with God and peace within ourselves. We shall have "all joy and peace in believing" (Romans 15:13).

But to keep this peace we must follow after the things that make for peace (Romans 14:19). We must "seek peace, and pursue it." We must do those things which belong to peace. We must hold that attitude that brings peace. Peace will begin and peace will abide when those things are removed which destroy peace.

That Peace

There are depths in the ocean which no tempest ever stirs; they are beyond the reach of all the storms which sweep and agitate the surface of the sea. And there are heights in the blue sky above to which no cloud ever ascends, where no tempest ever rages, where all is perpetual sunshine, and nothing exists to disturb the deep serene. Each of these is an emblem of that peace which Jesus imparts to His people.

Way of Peace

A great many people think that the Christian life is hard and unpleasant, that it is a rough and steep road; but truly it is a way of pleasantness and peace.

The only really happy people in the world, are those who are following Christ along the way of redemption. They have their share of troubles, disappointments, sorrows but all the time in the midst of these, they have a secret peace of which the world knows nothing.

There are paths in the low valleys, among the great mountains, which are sweet pictures of the Christian's way of peace. High up among the peaks and crags the storms sweep in wild fury but on these valley-paths no breath of tempest ever blows. Flowers bloom and springs of water gurgle along the wayside, and trees cast their grateful shadow, and bird-songs fill the air. Such is Christ's "way of peace" in this world.
