Believe and Be Saved!

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ... Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The Cross ...

The Cross was never designed to expose your sin, it was designed to remove your sin and EXPOSE your value.

1 Corinthians 15:3 ... For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

John 3:16-17  ... For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Resurrection Sunday 2022

REJOICE!!

 The Resurrection ~

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

And they remembered his words,

And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. Luke 24:1-9

A Personal Note About The Holy Week

The Holy Week is my favorite time of the year. We celebrate The Victorious Finished Work of Christ at the Cross for Our Sins, His burial, and His Magnificent Resurrection. I'm so thankful for what He did at the cross for us. He died for our sins. I was yet a sinner, a wretched sinner, and He died on the Cross for me. Not just for me, but for you as well. He died that we may live. Our Lord Jesus Christ was not just any man. He was, is and ever will be The Son of God.

God Himself left the glories of Heaven to fulfill God the Father's redemptive plan to bring mankind back to Himself. His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, became a human being. He was without sin but died for our sins. Thank You Lord. There are not enough words to describe the feeling that I have when I talk about the Finished Work of Christ at the cross, His burial and resurrection. I can never say enough as to what Christ did for me.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is the Gospel by which we are saved. His Finished Work at the Cross brings salvation the sinner, but also brings victory to the believer as He sanctifies us as we put our faith in His Finished work at the Cross as this gives The Holy Spirit latitude to work in our lives. As He died and was Resurrected, we also died and are resurrected spiritually. That same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. We can now live The Resurrected Life! Praise God!

God Bless you all!

The Crucifiction

Now, from the garden to the cross,
Let us attend the Lamb of God.
Be all things else accounted dross,
Compared with sin-atoning blood.

See how the patient Jesus stands,
Insulted in His lowest case!
Sinners have bound the Almighty's hands,
And spit in their Creator's face!

With thorns His temples gored and gashed
Send streams of blood from every part;
His back's with knotted scourges lashed.
But sharper scourges tear His heart!

Nailed naked to the accursed wood,
Exposed to earth and heaven above,
A spectacle of wounds and blood,
A prodigy of injured love!

[Hark! how his doleful cries affright
Affected angels, while they view!
His friends forsook him in the night,
And now his God forsakes him too!

O what a field of battle’s here;
Vengeance and love their powers oppose!
Never was such a mighty pair;
Never were two such desperate foes.

Behold that pale, that languid face,
That drooping head, those cold dead eyes!
Behold in sorrow and disgrace,
Our conquering Hero hangs and dies!

Ye that assume his sacred name,
Now tell me what can all this mean?
What was it bruised God’s harmless Lamb?
What was it pierced his soul, but sin?

Blush, Christian, blush; let shame abound;
If sin affects thee not with woe,
Whatever spirit be in thee found,
The Spirit of Christ thou dost not know.

Agonizing Love

Pilate delivered our Lord to the lictors to be scourged. The Roman scourging was a most dreadful instrument of torture. It was made of the sinews of oxen, and sharp bones were inter-twisted among the sinews; so that every time the lash came down these pieces of bone inflicted fearful laceration, and tore off some flesh from the victim. The Savior was, no doubt, bound to the pillar, and thus beaten. He had been beaten before, but this scourging of the Roman lictors was probably the most severe of His flagellations.

My soul, stand here and weep over His poor stricken body. Believer in Jesus, can you gaze upon Him without tears, as He stands before you, the picture of agonizing love? He is at once as white as the lily for innocence, and as red as the rose with the crimson of His own blood. As we feel the sure and blessed healing which His stripes have wrought in us does not our heart melt at once with love and grief? If ever we have loved our Lord Jesus surely we must feel that affection glowing now within our bosoms.

We would sincerely go to our chambers and weep. But since our business calls us away this morning, we will first ask our Beloved to print the image of His bleeding self upon the tablets of our hearts all the day; and at nightfall we will return to commune with Him, and sorrow that our sin should have cost Him so dear.

[Charles H. Spurgeon]

John 19:1-3 … Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

Isaiah 53:5 … But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

He Rose!

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 ...  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Acts 10:41 ... Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead

Romans 14:9 ... For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

2 Corinthians 15:5 ... And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

His Own Father

He drinks the bitter cup of God's wrath due to sin.  The powers of darkness fiercely assail Him.  He enjoys no sensible communion with Heaven. It is the gloomiest period in His whole life.  But at length His agony is so piercing that He is constrained to utter the most touching words of grief, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?"

His Father--His own Father, in whose bosom He had lain from eternity! His Father, by whom He was always beloved--has withdrawn the light of His countenance from Him! And from His cross arises a most piercing and agonizing cry, "My God, my God why have You forsaken Me?"

Oh, how mysterious, how solemn, how affecting is this cry! I t is the most doleful that ever came from the lips of Christ during His sorrowful sojourn from the manger to the cross.  Ah! Why does He hang on yonder cross, uttering these doleful words 'with strong crying and tears'?

It was not the nails which pierced His hands and feet, nor the agony of a crucifixion, which caused this mournful cry. He was now offering Himself a sacrifice for sins. As our Surety, He suffered all that divine justice required to bring the sinner back to God and to glory.

Here is the great mystery of Godliness: the Father bruises the Son, and puts Him to grief for our sakes! All those cries, and tears, and groans of Him whom the Father appointed to accomplish our salvation were for us.

On His shoulders was laid the enormous load of our guilt. Oh, what can we render to our Divine Savior, for His amazing and unparalleled love to us?

Matthew 27:46 ... And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? ❤

Easter Time Again

Well, once again it's that time where certain believers get all in an uproar over Easter and Easter egg hunts, chocolate bunnies, crosses, and Cadbury eggs. They become divisive as well as militant in their attempt to silence anyone who disagrees with their weird and messed up theology. Here's my thoughts, get over it. Salvation is not, nor ever has been based on what you ate, celebrated, did or did not participate in. The fact is, every man is accountable for his own walk, but never are we to judge another believer for their own personal conviction. Remember, convictions are PERSONAL, not corporate. Grace trumps law each and every time. I grew up in a small Pentecostal church and we celebrated Easter, egg hunts and yet it was never about "things", but about the one who rose from the grave on the third day - Jesus Christ.

[Christopher Gregory]

Colossians 2:16-17 ... Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:  Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Hebrews 6:1 ... Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Romans 14:4 ... Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.❤

The Difference

The difference between Christianity and other religions?
An empty tomb.

Matthew 28:6 ... He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

1 Corinthians 15:4 ... And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:55 ... O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Acts 2:32 ...  This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

Revelation 1:18 ... I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

He is Victorious!

He died a real death, but now he lives a real life, he did lie in the tomb, and it was no fiction that the breath had departed from him: it is equally no fiction that our Redeemer liveth. The Lord is risen indeed. He hath survived the death struggle and the agony, and he lives unhurt: he has come out of the furnace without so much as the smell of fire upon him. He is not injured in any faculty; whether human or divine. He is not robbed of any glory, but his name is now surrounded with brighter lustre than ever. He has lost no dominion, he claims superior rights and rules over a new empire. He is a gainer by his losses, he has risen by his descent. All along the line he is victorious at every point.

[Charles H. Spurgeon]

Matthew 28:6 ... He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Matthew 28:18 ... And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Acts 2:24 ... Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

Mark 16:19 ... So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Philippians 2:9-11 ... Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Righteousness

You are not righteous because you obey (the law.) You are righteous because Jesus obeyed! Not only are we forgiven, but made righteous too. It’s all about the cross and what Christ did for you.  Thank you, Jesus! ℛℒ

2 Corinthians 5:21... For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Romans 4:6-7 ... Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Romans 5:17 ... For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:19 ... For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Romans 6:18 ... Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Philippians 3:9 ... And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Psalm 146:8 ... The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:  ❤

Mary At The Cross

Every mother has communication beyond the need of words with a son. A soldier’s mom will say, “He died doing what he wanted most to do. His purpose was to serve his country.”

From Gabriel’s astonishing commission to Mary, all the way to Jesus’ last prayer, you knew. You knew that He was much more than an ordinary, human man. A man about His Father’s business, He said. You wisely treasured and pondered all of these things in your heart.

[Joyce Carr Stedelbauer]

John 19:25-26 ... Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Acts 1:14-16 ... These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Luke 2:34-35 ... And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Resurrection Power

Let us be confident, Christian brethren, that our power does not lie in the manger at Bethlehem nor in the relics of the Cross. True spiritual power resides in the victory of the mighty, resurrected Lord of glory, who could pronounce after spoiling death: "All power is given me in heaven and in earth."  The power of the Christian believer lies in the Savior's triumph of eternal glory!

Christ's resurrection brought about a startling change of direction for the believers. Sadness and fear and mourning marked the direction of their religion before they knew that Jesus was raised from the dead-their direction was towards the grave. When they heard the angelic witness, "He is risen, as He said," the direction immediately shifted away from the tomb "He is risen, indeed!"

If this is not the meaning of Easter, the Christian church is involved only in a shallow one-day festival each year. Thankfully, the resurrection morning was only the beginning of a great, vast outreach that has never ended-and will not end until our Lord Jesus Christ comes back again!
