Trust The Lord!!

He will NEVER FAIL! That’s why we trust Him! To trust in anything else guarantees total failure!  Trust in the Lord every day!

Isaiah 41:10 ... Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Nahum 1:7 ... The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Trusting God!!

What we need very badly these days is a company of Christ’s followers prepared to trust God as completely now as they must do at the last day! For each of us, the time is surely coming when we shall all have nothing but God. To people of pseudo-faith, that is a terrifying thought. For true faith, it is either God or total collapse.

We can prove our faith by our committal to it and in no other way.
[A. W. Tozer]

Proverbs 3:5-6 ... Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalm 11:1 ... In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

Nahum 1:7 ... The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

On Whom Do You Trust?

Reader, this is an important question. Listen to the Christian's answer, and see if it is yours. "On whom do you trust?"  "I trust," says the Christian, "in the triune God of Scripture!" I trust the Father, believing that He has chosen me from before the foundation of the world.

I trust Him to provide for me in His providence, to teach me, to guide me, to correct me if need be, and to bring me home to His own house where the many mansions are! I trust the Son. The man Christ Jesus is also the true God. I trust in Him as my Redeemer to take away all my sins by His atoning sacrifice, and to adorn me with His perfect righteousness. I trust Him to be my Intercessor, to present my prayers and desires before His Father's throne. I trust Him to be my Advocate at the last great day, to plead my cause, and to justify me. I trust Him for what He is, for what He has done, and for what He has promised yet to do!

I trust the Holy Spirit. He has begun to save me from my inbred sins; I trust Him to finally drive them all out. I trust Him to curb my debased temperament, to subdue my stubborn will, to enlighten my darkened understanding, to check my evil passions, to comfort my despondency, to help my spiritual weakness, to provide my spiritual nourishment, to reign in me as my loving King, to sanctify me wholly, and then to take me up to dwell forever in glory!

Oh, blessed trust! To trust Him whose power will never be exhausted, whose love will never wane, whose kindness will never change, whose faithfulness will never fail, whose wisdom will never be confounded, and whose perfect goodness can never know a diminution!

Happy are you, reader, if this trust is yours! So trusting, you shall enjoy sweet peace now, and glory hereafter! The foundation of your trust shall never be removed!

[Charles H. Spurgeon]

Wilt Thou?

O thou Beloved child of My desire, Whether I lead thee through green valleys,  By still waters, Or through fire, Or lay thee down in silence under snow, Through any weather, and whatever  Cloud may gather, Wind may blow; Wilt [thou] love Me? trust Me? praise Me?

[Amy Carmichael]

Nahum 1:7 ... The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Romans 8:38-39 ... For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 3:19 ...  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.❤

A Kingdom ...

A home is a kingdom of its own in the midst of the world, a stronghold amid life's storms and stresses, a refuge, even a sanctuary.

[Dietrich Bonhoeffer]

Earthquake!

Of all the judgments which the righteous God inflicts on sinners here in this world, the most dreadful and destructive is an earthquake. This He has lately brought on our part of the earth, and thereby alarmed our fears, and bid us to "prepare to meet our God!"

Earthquakes are the works of the Lord, and He alone brings this destruction upon the earth. That God is Himself the Author of earthquakes, and sin the moral cause of earthquakes, (whatever the natural cause may be,) cannot be denied by any who believe the Scriptures. Earthquakes are set forth by the inspired writers as God's proper judicial act for the punishment of sin.

Job 9:5-6  ... Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.  Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

Psalm 104:32 ... He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

Psalm 18:7 ... Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

Nahum 1:5-6 ... The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.  Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

Sin is the cause of God's anger; earthquakes the effect of His anger!

Isaiah 13:11-13 ...  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.  I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

Isaiah 24:1, 19 ... Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. / The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

Isaiah 29:6 ... Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

Nothing can be more express than these Scripture testimonies, which determine both the cause and author of this terrible calamity. We cannot conceive that the universe would have been disturbed by these furious disasters, before sin entered. Therefore reason, as well as Scripture, sufficiently assure us that earthquakes are God's works of judgment; the proper effect and punishment of sin.

[Charles Wesley]

Psalm 46:8 ... Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

Hebrews 10:31 ... It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Jeremiah 5:22 ...  Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

Refuge in the Storm

You Can Sleep When The Wind Blows…

Years ago a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people were reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded the awful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops.

As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received a steady stream of refusals. Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached the farmer. “Are you a good farmhand?” the farmer asked him. “Well, I can sleep when the wind blows,” answered the little man. Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, hired him.

The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man’s work. Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore. Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed next door to the hired hand’s sleeping quarters. He shook the little man and yelled, “Get up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!”

The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, “No sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows.” Enraged by the old man’s response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm.

To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had been covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred. The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down. Nothing could blow away.

The farmer then understood what his hired hand meant, and he returned to bed to also sleep while the wind blew.

SPIRITUAL TRUTH: When you’re prepared, you have nothing to fear.

Can you sleep when the wind blows through your life? The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he had secured the farm against the storm. We secure ourselves against the storms of life by trusting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and grounding ourselves firmly in the Word of God.

Mark 4:37-39 … And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Psalm 107: 29 … He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Isaiah 41: 10 … Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

The Storm

Let this encourage those of you who belong to Christ: the storm may be tempestuous, but it is only temporary. The clouds that are temporarily rolling over your head will pass, and then you will have fair weather, an eternal sunshine of glory. Can you not watch with Christ for one hour?

[William Gurnall]

Psalm 89:8-9 ... O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

Shipwrecked

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. “God, how could you do this to me!” he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied.

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn’t lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.
