Wilkerson's Revelation

The late David Wilkerson stated something many years ago that I had always taken with particular interest when he spoke of something God had revealed about the state of the church in the latter years just before the end of days. David spoke of the rise of a new type of Jesus which would result in a new kind of Christianity that would challenge the past and signify a new era of spirituality. David also stated that this new type of Jesus would come on the heels of a strange revival that would be hype, signs and wonders, and little of doctrine. People would become seekers of experience, gathering toward anything that gave them a sensation but never truly changed.

David said that this would begin rebuilding a new type of "super church," which would eventually lead to a global unification of all religions. We can see this happening now. The world and the church are conditioned for the greatest spectacle of deception known to man, and like moths to the flame, we run to it. The Pentecostal movement I grew up with is dead, hijacked by charismatic chaos, which has invaded many today.

Still, as David stated in one of his prophecies concerning the last era of movements, it's been designed to be. We now seek after gold dust and spirit clouds in churches, take pictures of them, and call it a "sign." Strange manifestations and erratic behaviors it's all part of this new movement that is creating a new type of Jesus. This is not a Calvinist or reformed conspiracy; this is simply part of a more deceptive plan by the growing darkness in our world. It's by design. But few are listening. And that, too, is by design.

Stop being led by emotions, stop chasing wildfire, and start paying attention to our world. And most of all, stop coddling other faiths! Latter days, not end of days. Then a great falling away will come, not an end-time revival.

[Christopher Gregory]

2 Thessalonians 2:3 ... Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2 Timothy 4:3 ...  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Matthew 24:24 ... For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Who was Jenny Evans Moore?

Jenny Evans Moore was a woman in attendance at William J Seymour's revival. This was before Azusa Street. She lived across the street from the family who was housing the traveling preacher. Jenny was filled with Holy Spirit at the house on Bonnie Brae. She was one of the first seven people to be receive them baptism of fire.

What was the evidence? When Jenny was filled with the Holy Ghost, she sat down at the piano in the front room of the house on Bonnie Brae and played worship. She played it perfectly. Multiple songs. She played all day. She sang one of those songs - over and over - each time in a different language. She did this 6 times, in 6 different languages. The six languages were French, Spanish, Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Hindustani.

Jenny had never played the piano before, not a day in her life. Nor did she know any languages other than English. She went on to become the wife of William J Seymour and a great Pentecostal evangelist in her day.

We as believers need to see beyond the veil. Remove anything that keeps us remaining in the old way of thinking; and walk into the NEW!

Ephesians 4:17-24 ... This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:  Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Revivals

When the 120 were gathered together in one place they waited, prayed, and tarried for the promise of the comforter to come, and he did. 120 were baptized in fire and the start of the church began.  But Christ also told them to spread their message to all the world. And the result was a global movement which birthed millions into the kingdom.

Revivals, gatherings, and the like do absolutely nothing unless we go into ALL the world. Yet some still think that God only selects a few to be world missionaries. That’s a fallacy. An American invention of bad theology. Christ told us, the church, to go into ALL the world and preach the gospel, not a select few.

So, while it might be true that living overseas can’t be for everyone, you can go into every nation on earth for 15-20 days. Even a week. Again, if a revival does not materialize a global trend toward world missions, it was not a genuine revival. The early church proved this to be true.

Acts 2:2-3 ... And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Matthew 28:19-20 ...  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

"Jesus Movement"

For now, close to 30 years, we’ve been given the message of the cross in almost every conceivable way possible. Yet no major move of God. We have been told time and time again by prophets and apostles of the “big shift” that was coming to our churches. And yet no shifting has come. Our youth have been told of another “Jesus Movement” is dawning and how this generation is hungry for God. Even a pastor stated recently that the world is finally hungry for a move of God. And of course, “it’s coming”.

Here in Indiana, we had Revive Indiana, where a supposed global awakening was supposed to occur and spread across the nation to bring the promised revival. That was 8 years ago. Nothing has changed.

The church has been hoodwinked, bamboozled, charmed by every gimmick known to man, and still if someone says “it’s coming” people will drop everything to follow the seductive tune being played. We’ve been given the message and yet we can’t even get people to come to church. And speaking of church; attendance is lower now than it has ever been pre-Covid. We are biblically illiterate.

And as for another “Jesus Movement” within our youth, the current statistics reflect that this same youth are more liberal than previous generations. They embrace Socialism. They are open to same-sex marriage. And they are open to other paths to God. We promise revival but deliver nothing. Why? Because a revival does not fall into our schedule of events.

The church today speaks in tongues, crowds the altar every Sunday, boasts in their signs and wonders, and still the world around us grows worse, wickedness abounds, and violence keeps building. But yet we had “church” the other night. More churches today are closing their doors instead of opening new ones. Pastors are retiring in greater number today than in the past and churches are forced to close because they can’t fill the vast positions because most don’t want the job. Scandals plague our body like a virus while the prophets keep prophesying falsely.
And yet we shrug it off and go about our business.

I’m not a pessimist. I’m a realist. Because I understand that God and his word remains true. Even in the midst of chaos and confusion, scripture stands above rhetoric. Paul warned Timothy that toward the end there would be no great awakening. No end time revival. Paul said it would be lovers of pleasure, proud and haughty men, followers of self as well as perversion. Jeremiah stood before the prophet of his day and said not 7 years but 70. He was slapped for it.

All I’m saying is, be like Noah.

[Christopher Gregory]

Hebrews 11:7 ... By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

The Well of Beer

Famous was the well of Beer in the wilderness, because it was the subject of a promise: “That is the well whereof the Lord spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” The people needed water, and it was promised by their gracious God. We need fresh supplies of heavenly grace, and in the covenant the Lord has pledged himself to give all we require. The well next became the cause of a song. Before the water gushed forth, cheerful faith prompted the people to sing; and as they saw the crystal fount bubbling up, the music grew yet more joyous. In like manner, we who believe the promise of God should rejoice in the prospect of divine revivals in our souls, and as we experience them our holy joy should overflow.

Are we thirsting? Let us not murmur, but sing. Spiritual thirst is bitter to bear, but we need not bear it the promise indicates a well; let us be of good heart, and look for it. Moreover, the well was the centre of prayer. “Spring up, O well.” What God has engaged to give, we must enquire after, or we manifest that we have neither desire nor faith. This evening let us ask that the Scripture we have read, and our devotional exercises, may not be an empty formality, but a channel of grace to our souls. O that God the Holy Spirit would work in us with all his mighty power, filling us with all the fulness of God.

Lastly, the well was the object of effort. “The nobles of the people digged it with their staves.” The Lord would have us active in obtaining grace. Our staves are ill adapted for digging in the sand, but we must use them to the utmost of our ability. Prayer must not be neglected; the assembling of ourselves together must not be forsaken; ordinances must not be slighted. The Lord will give us his peace most plenteously, but not in a way of idleness. Let us, then, bestir ourselves to seek him in whom are all our fresh springs.

[Charles H. Spurgeon]

Numbers 21:17 … Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:

My Responsibility

The best thing any man can do toward the cultivation of a state or county is to cultivate well his own farm, or his own field or garden. He would not be a very useful man who would spend his time in finding fault with his neighbor's farming, or with the general state of agriculture and allow his own field to become overgrown with weeds and thorns.

And the same is true in the church. The only revival that will bless the church is that which shall begin in the individual hearts of the church membership. And the very first thing for every Christian to do, is to secure the quickening and reviving of his own spiritual life.

[J.R. Miller]

Philippians 2:12 ... Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Mark 12:30 ... And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Jude 21 ... Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

The Revival We Need

A true revival is a quickening according to God’s Word, not according to some man’s magnetism or eccentricity. A talented evangelist may swoop down upon a community and make a stir by sharp, striking sayings, draw large crowds and quicken a kind of interest; but such a quickening may be according to the evangelist, not according to the Word of God.

Now, what we need is an increase of spiritual life which is in line with scriptural teaching. A revival means a giving of more life. David had life; what he wished for was life more abundant. We have love for God and men; what we need is more of the same quality; but be sure that it is love according to the Word of God. ‘This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.’ Obedience, not sentimentalism or unctuous joy, is love.

Such obedience to God will be linked with unselfish ministry to man. A missionary by the name of Crossett died years ago in China. He was greatly loved by the Chinese people. He chose a life of poverty, because he did not have time to make money. He spent his days and nights with the sick, the poor, the anxious. He led many of them to Christ. He thought not of himself, but of others. He loved men, not because of the ties of kinship or nationality, but because they were men with immortal souls precious in the sight of God. Such love we need in abundance: a love producing a zeal that consumes us. A love that burdens us for the salvation of men.

Choosing Brokenness

Before its impact can be felt in a home, a church, or a nation, revival must first be experienced on a personal level in the hearts of men and women who have encountered God in a fresh way. And the single greatest hindrance to our experiencing personal revival is our unwillingness to humble ourselves and confess our desperate need for His mercy.

[Nancy Leigh DeMoss]

Isaiah 57:15 ... For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Psalm 24:3-5 ... Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Matthew 5:3 ... Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ❤

Set Your Sails

We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.

[G. Campbell Morgan]

Amos 5:14 … Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

Isaiah 55:3 … Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Deuteronomy 11:13-14 … And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

Isaiah 57:15 … For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Ephesians 5:14 … Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
