For now, close to 30 years, we’ve been given the message of the cross in almost every conceivable way possible. Yet no major move of God. We have been told time and time again by prophets and apostles of the “big shift” that was coming to our churches. And yet no shifting has come.
Our youth have been told of another “Jesus Movement” is dawning and how this generation is hungry for God. Even a pastor stated recently that the world is finally hungry for a move of God. And of course, “it’s coming”.
Here in Indiana, we had Revive Indiana, where a supposed global awakening was supposed to occur and spread across the nation to bring the promised revival. That was 8 years ago. Nothing has changed.
The church has been hoodwinked, bamboozled, charmed by every gimmick known to man, and still if someone says “it’s coming” people will drop everything to follow the seductive tune being played.
We’ve been given the message and yet we can’t even get people to come to church. And speaking of church; attendance is lower now than it has ever been pre-Covid.
We are biblically illiterate.
And as for another “Jesus Movement” within our youth, the current statistics reflect that this same youth are more liberal than previous generations. They embrace Socialism. They are open to same-sex marriage. And they are open to other paths to God.
We promise revival but deliver nothing. Why? Because a revival does not fall into our schedule of events.
The church today speaks in tongues, crowds the altar every Sunday, boasts in their signs and wonders, and still the world around us grows worse, wickedness abounds, and violence keeps building. But yet we had “church” the other night.
More churches today are closing their doors instead of opening new ones. Pastors are retiring in greater number today than in the past and churches are forced to close because they can’t fill the vast positions because most don’t want the job.
Scandals plague our body like a virus while the prophets keep prophesying falsely.
And yet we shrug it off and go about our business.
I’m not a pessimist. I’m a realist. Because I understand that God and his word remains true. Even in the midst of chaos and confusion, scripture stands above rhetoric.
Paul warned Timothy that toward the end there would be no great awakening. No end time revival. Paul said it would be lovers of pleasure, proud and haughty men, followers of self as well as perversion.
Jeremiah stood before the prophet of his day and said not 7 years but 70. He was slapped for it.
All I’m saying is, be like Noah.
[Christopher Gregory]
Hebrews 11:7 ... By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
