Leaning on Paul's Instruction

You don't have to go to a church to be Born Again.  You don't have to tithe for God to bless you. You don't have to dress in a certain way to please your Heavenly Father.

Once you understand how Grace works and how Christ changed what we couldn't, then you will fully understand how God simply want our fellowship, not our allegiance.

This is why we lean on what Paul instructed, that every person walk according to their own conscious and work out one’s own salvation with fear and trembling. But resting in the fact that Christ is easy and his yolk is light.

[Christopher Gregory]

Philippians 2:12-13 ... Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Matthew 11:29-30 ... Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Galatians 5:1-4 ... Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. ❤

Finally Free!!

A living, breathing relationship with the Savior of the world will drive porn out of your life quicker than anything else. When you turn your eyes to Jesus, there isn’t room for anything else in your heart because He fills it up. When you open the blinds of a pitch-black room, the sunlight drives away the darkness.

Galatians 2:20 ... I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 5:5 ... And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

1 John 1:9 ... If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Revelation 3:20 ... Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ❤

Standing in Grace!!

Every man by nature is under the law, bound to obey its precepts, and pay its penalty; and unless its requirements are fully met, the law can never justify us. But the gospel invites us to leave the law and come to the Savior; and coming to the Savior we are delivered from the law; it has no more power over us than if it had executed the sentence of death on us, it having put Christ to death in our stead. We are dead to the law, and the law is dead to us.  We are not under the law but under grace; Jesus has died for our offences and has been raised again for our justification. Our privilege is great; our state is most blessed. We stand in grace, according to Paul's words, who speaks of "this grace wherein we stand." (Romans 5:2)

Grace is favor; law is requirement; we are not under requirement therefore but under favor. We will look at our Privileged State. We are JUSTIFIED. Justified by his grace. Justified by the blood of Jesus. Justified by faith in Christ. We are reconciled to God, who meets us at the cross, holds out the hand, and reconciles us to himself. We are not only reconciled but are become intimate friends and are treated as such. Not only intimate friends but special favorites, and are therefore allowed to come to God when we will, and wherever we will; to walk with God all the day, and every day; to commune with God on all that interests us; to commit our all to God; to be preserved and kept safe; to leave our all with God, without anxiety or perplexity; to expect from God all he has promised, and all we ask in faith.

Yes, we may expect sympathy in all our sufferings; supply of all our wants; and support under all our troubles. Can any state be more blessed? Could we be more highly privileged? For us all the demands of the law are met. To us all the blessings of the gospel are given. We are savingly interested in God's highest love. We may claim all the merit of the life and death of his Son. We may look for all the grace and comfort of the Holy Spirit. We STAND in this State.

Our standing is firm, for there is to us, no condemnation. We shall stand to the last, for we shall suffer no inglorious defeat. Our condition is stable, for we build on a rock. Our privilege is permanent, for grace never changes. The oath, the promise, and the unchangeable love of God secures us. Being in Christ now we shall be in Christ forever. Being united to Christ now we shall never be severed from him. Our standing is from grace, grace in God's heart, he had free favor towards us. Our standing is of grace, or it is entirely gratuitous. Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:9)

Our standing is to the glory of grace. As Adam's fall proved the weakness of standing in law, so the standing of the whole church proves the strength of standing in grace. From this rock no waves can wash us, no hurricane can blow us, no power, either human or infernal, can remove us! Here grace placed us, here grace preserves us, and here glory will find us! Blessed be God for grace, free grace, omnipotent grace, immutable grace! Blessed be God that we ever heard of grace, that we ever felt the power of grace, that we stand in grace!

Observe, Christ opened the way for us, therefore it is said of him, "By whom we have access into this grace wherein we stand." (Romans 5:2) Jesus removed every impediment and became the way to the Father the way to the Father's love, mercy, and grace; the way to the Father's heart. Faith leads us into that way, along that way, to the end of that way; as it is written, "By whom we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand." Not by works of righteousness, not by pleasant or painful feelings but by faith alone.

Therefore, it is of faith, that it might be by grace. Faith excludes works, as grace excludes desert. Neither on the ground of doing or deserving but on the ground of faith alone are we justified, reconciled, and accepted of God.  Glory crowns it, hence, it is added, "and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." We rejoice in the hope that God will be glorified in our being thus privileged; and we rejoice in hope of being glorified with God and with Christ forever. Let us take care then, that we do not get back under the law but let us stand fast in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

The law being satisfied, having received all it can demand can now only be a rule, pointing out what God approves, and directing us how to walk and to please God. But let us take care that we do not get to dealing with God on the ground of works. We come not to the bar of justice but to the throne of grace. We come not to bring a price, that we may purchase or procure some good thing; but that we may obtain mercy, mid find grace to help us in time of need. Let us take care not to block up the way to this grace, it is open to all, free for all, and alike easy to all. There is no difference between Jew or Gentile, bond or free, black or white; all have sinned and therefore deserve to die but all are invited to Jesus, and therefore may be pardoned, reconciled, and saved.

Under the law, we are all enemies to God; but through the gospel, coming under grace, we become the friends and favorites of God. He treats us, not as the lawgiver treats law breakers; but as a kind and loving Father treats his tenderly beloved children. Blessed, forever blessed be God, for "this grace wherein we stand."

[James Smith]

Romans 5:1-2 ... Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ❤

The Great Pumpkin Day!

I am a firm believer in personal liberty when it comes to an individual’s right to choose how they live, what they watch, what they participate or what they don’t participate in, I support freedom in the body of Christ. If that means a person does Halloween, that’s on them, they have that liberty, because of grace, to do that. But I also respect another’s right and freedom not to. That’s the beauty of God’s grace he gives us.

I’ve seen the damage done by legalism growing up in church, women not allowed to wear pants, makeup, or simple things like going to the movies. All restricted by the church police. We are all accountable for our own actions, that’s how it works. No need to apologize for your behavior, just be you.

And eat some candy along the way. 🎃

[Christopher Gregory]

Galatians 5:1 ... Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Colossians 2:16 ... Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

2 Corinthians 3:17 ... Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ❤

"Unfettered"

1. Let your praise be unfettered.

2. Let your worship be unfettered.

3. Let your prayers be unfettered.

4. Let your reading of the word be unfettered.

5. Let your service to God and others be unfettered.

6. Let your acknowledgement of His Presence be unfettered.

7. Let your sharing of His goodness be unfettered in your time, talents, and giftings.

(*) Unfettered
A fetter is a chain or shackle for the feet (such as the kind sometimes used on a prisoner), or, more broadly, anything that confines or restrains. Fetter and unfetter both function as verbs in English with contrasting literal meanings having to do with the putting on of and freeing from fetters; they likewise have contrasting figurative extensions having to do with the depriving and granting of freedom. The adjective unfettered resides mostly in the figurative, with the word typically describing someone or something unrestrained in progress or personal relationship with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

Chain Breaker!!

Chains are an obvious symbol of imprisonment. In physical terms they restrict us, hold us down and back and signify our captive state. In spiritual terms they do more or less the same. While many of us won't experience physical chains, we're by no means immune to the impact of spiritual chains which harm our spiritual growth. These kinds of shackles are just as unmissable and detrimental to our freedom because they affect our behavior, our outlook and our faith.

The Bible features numerous accounts of physical chain breaking but it also is full of stories about people who had their spiritual chains broken by the Lord. These types of chains manifested in various ways demons, sickness, sin. But these biblical stories aren't just documented so that we know what Jesus was able to do for people that followed him in the past, they're also there to show us what he can do for us today. Jesus comes to set us free and destroy the chains that bind us.

Some of Us Like That Eagle!!

A gentleman had an eagle which had been caught when young and brought up in a cage like a domestic bird. At length the owner was going away over the sea and decided to give the eagle its freedom. So, he brought it out of its cage, and it walked about, but seemed to have no thought whatever of flying away.

The gentleman was disappointed. At length he lifted the great bird to the garden wall. It stood there a moment and then looked up toward the sun. It seemed suddenly to remember that it was an eagle, whose home was amid the crags and the cliffs. A moment more and it lifted one wing, then the other, and was gone soaring away into the blue of the sky!

Some of us like that eagle, shut up in the cage, using only its feet, not knowing it had wings, and that its true home was in the heavens. Let us lift up our eyes to the heavens there is our home. We were made for God. Let us try our soul's wings; we were made to fly! It is a desecration of life to live amid the dust when we were created for flights in the blue heavens!

[J.R. Miller]

Isaiah 40:31 ... But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Colossians 3:1-3 ... If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  ❤

Be Made Free!!

Salvation is free - the gift of God. We cannot earn it, buy it, nor work for it. Salvation is by unmerited favor, grace. Religion places you under a heavy yoke of oppression, a system of works and self-righteousness trying to earn God's favor.

The good news is the Lord rebukes religious leaders placing oppression on the shoulders of His people and He offers us rest - freedom from religious rules and manmade traditions.
Any 'works' that we do is not to obtain salvation but because of salvation and obedience to the Lord.
Come to Jesus. It's very simple. Repent and Believe - put your faith in Jesus and His finished work on the cross! Amen. †

Ephesians 2:8-9 ... For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Matthew 11:28-30 ... Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Galatians 5:1 ... Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Mark 1:15 ...  And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ... Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: ❤

Liberty in Christ!!

The religious mindset will never comprehend liberty in its perfect form. It’s not that we are walking away from Christ, we’re walking to where he is. That’s true spiritual maturity. Legalism, rituals, traditions, man-made concepts and ideas, will always resent enlightenment.

Be enlightened.

Icing a Cake!!

John stated in 1 John 1:8 that if we say we have no sin we lie. The issue is not a lifestyle of sinful behavior, that’s problematic in of itself. The issue is understanding and breaking free from the law which can only be accomplished when we understand the message of the cross.

Once we understand or grasp what the cross means, apply it to our life, that’s when grace comes into play. We pride ourselves in church, doing “churchy” things, but we fail to understand grace by the cross. Because the cross is the means by which we are set free. Religion will never accommodate that, it can’t.

It’s like icing a cake, every time turn it you find that you missed a spot. That’s works. Grace covers us completely.

[Christopher Gregory]

Galatians 5:1 ... Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Galatians 3:17-18 ... And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Romans 8:2 ... For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. ❤

"Just As I Am"

I will take the liberty to simply and briefly paraphrase the main idea of Miss Elliott's timeless hymn: "Just as I am," a sinner bankrupt of all righteousness, vile, self-destroyed, lost I come!

"Just as I am," my soul steeped in the deepest guilt, laden with sins as innumerable as the sands, and red like crimson I come!

"Just as I am," with all my atheistic thoughts and infidel principles, and rebellious opposition, and carnal lusts, and worldly attachments I come!

"Just as I am," a wreck tossed to and fro upon life's murky waters, and ready to perish I come!

"Just as I am," a moral parricide, having broken a pious mother's heart, and bowed a godly father's grey hairs in sorrow to the grave, beggared of all, bereft of all, abandoned of all I come!

"Just as I am," without one atom of worthiness, or one plea of merit, or one ray of hope springing from myself, and with nothing to pay I come!

"Just as I am," reeking from the swine's trough, starving, bankrupt, covered with guilt and poverty and shame "I come, O Lamb of God, to You!"

Could Gabriel, "standing in the presence of God," awaken his trumpet to a sentiment more sublime, a truth more precious, a hope more glorious than is embodied in the very first stanzas of this magnificent hymn? Impossible! Are you desiring to reach the Savior? Are you struggling through a crowd of opposition and temptation and difficulty so that you might but touch the fringe of His flowing robe descending to His feet, and within the reach of the lowliest penitent and the weakest faith, and be saved?

Oh, let the voice of the dear departed one, speaking as from the tomb, aid and encourage you in your blessed and holy endeavor to get to Christ, "just as you are!" Jesus has done all, suffered all, paid all, and invites all! With a nature full of grace, and with a heart overflowing with love, and with outstretched hands pierced for your sins He is prepared to receive and save you, to wash your sin-soiled, guilt-stained soul in His all-cleansing blood; and to cover your spiritual nakedness with the robe of His all-justifying and imputed Righteousness, "which is unto all and upon all those who believe."

Oh, then, take up the last stanza of this inimitable hymn, and in its glowing language proclaim, as from the house-top your deliberate and solemn vow of dedication to King Jesus: "Just as I am! Your LOVE alone Has broken every barrier down; Now to be Thine, and Thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come!"

Fly!!

He died to clothe you in His perfect love. Perfect He sees you His Jesus-filled Children. Your deepest disappointments He washes away in His mercy. Release the lies that separate you from His perfect love. He gives you His perfect peace. He clothes you in His light that darkness must flee.

Abide in His Spirit which clothes you. Accept the truth of His undying love for you. Let it fill your heart and mind. You are wrapped in His love. Rejoice in this, that nothing can separate you from His love. Saturate your thoughts on this reality and you will indeed fly in freedom. You walk in an open heaven His supernatural child.

[Troi Nelson Cockayne]

Psalm 132:16 ... I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

Isaiah 61:10 ...  I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Romans 8:38-39 ... For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ❤

Grace Upends ...

I’ve said this before, but I will restate my point once again, once an individual understands grace - not the seminary terminology or the religious terminology - but understanding the complete context and meaning of what grace via the cross means, everything else will fall into place.

But let me warn the reader that once they get this revelation, a conflict will emerge from the religious community, who will see that another individual has been set free from the chains of religious dogma and whose chains have been broken.

That’s the power and beauty of the cross. Grace upends the religious, restoring the spirit to its original purpose and standing with God.

To Be Christlike ...

To be Christlike is the duty and privilege of every believer. God's Word distinctly settles that matter when it affirms, "Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8:9)

I ask myself, oh, will you not do the same? How much of His likeness has been visible in my conduct during this day? How far have I been that which my Lord expects me to be His representative in this sinful world? If bearing the cross after Christ is the chief work of the Christian, have I borne it in patience and obedience and full surrender to His will in all things, or have I, as far as I was able, put it aside and thought my own thoughts, walked in my own ways, and done what pleased myself without any reference to Him or recognition of His right to "reign over me"?

There are Christians who think they have liberty to do their own will in a thousand things. They speak very much as they like; they do very much as they like; they use their property and possessions as they like. They are their own masters, and they have never dreamed of saying, "Jesus, we forsake all to follow Thee." May God keep us from the sin and error of thinking that we can accept Christ as our Savior, and yet practically deny Him as our Master!

Liberty Not Law.

I have lived my Christian walk by one standard and one alone, recognizing that my salvation is based on my faith and not my works, i.e., keeping to religious rules and traditions. That’s how I live my life in Christ.

Unfortunately, though, this puts me at odds with many when it comes to what others deem as essential to be a Christian.  Case in point: Christmas. I’m seeing many argue their convictions against celebrating this time of year with those who have no problem with it. It’s a religious spirit of contention. I have no problem with anyone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas and is sincere about it. I respect that. But what I don’t respect is this persistent persecution of some toward others who feel differently on the matter.

Twisting scripture to justify intolerance toward another believer is not only wrong, but also a sin. This is why I believe in Christian liberty. And it’s not just Christmas either, but in other areas of life; some Christians have a glass of wine on occasion, or in the area of science, many Christians received the vaccine because they believed the science and not the conspiracy. But now there is a huge push by some Christian’s condemning and outright persecuting other believers who took the vaccine and is calling them to repent. Hogwash!

Not only is our nation divided, so is the church. If Christian’s would just stop being busybodies and stop worrying about another’s personal liberty, and just focused on their own walk, we wouldn’t have this problem.

As my grandmother always told me years ago growing up; clean up your own doorstep before you try to clean up others.
