I have lived my Christian walk by one standard and one alone, recognizing that my salvation is based on my faith and not my works, i.e., keeping to religious rules and traditions. That’s how I live my life in Christ.
Unfortunately, though, this puts me at odds with many when it comes to what others deem as essential to be a Christian. Case in point: Christmas.
I’m seeing many argue their convictions against celebrating this time of year with those who have no problem with it. It’s a religious spirit of contention.
I have no problem with anyone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas and is sincere about it. I respect that. But what I don’t respect is this persistent persecution of some toward others who feel differently on the matter.
Twisting scripture to justify intolerance toward another believer is not only wrong, but also a sin. This is why I believe in Christian liberty. And it’s not just Christmas either, but in other areas of life; some Christians have a glass of wine on occasion, or in the area of science, many Christians received the vaccine because they believed the science and not the conspiracy. But now there is a huge push by some Christian’s condemning and outright persecuting other believers who took the vaccine and is calling them to repent. Hogwash!
Not only is our nation divided, so is the church. If Christian’s would just stop being busybodies and stop worrying about another’s personal liberty, and just focused on their own walk, we wouldn’t have this problem.
As my grandmother always told me years ago growing up; clean up your own doorstep before you try to clean up others.
