The Delight Which God Has in His Redeemed People!

How heart-cheering to the believer, is the delight which God has in His redeemed people! We cannot see any reason in ourselves why the Lord should take pleasure in us. We cannot take delight in ourselves, for we often have to groan, being burdened; conscious of our sinfulness, and deploring our unfaithfulness. And we fear that God's people cannot take much delight in us, for they must perceive so much of our imperfections and our follies, that they may rather lament our infirmities, than admire our graces. But we love to dwell upon this transcendent truth, this glorious mystery that as the bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so does the Lord rejoice over us!

We do not read anywhere that God delights in the cloud-capped mountains, or the sparkling stars but we do read that His delights are with the sons of men. We do not find it written that even angels give His soul delight; nor does He say, concerning cherubim and seraphim, "You shall be called Hephzibah, for the Lord delights in you"; but He does say all that to poor fallen creatures like ourselves, debased and depraved by sin but redeemed and saved by His grace.

In what strong language He expresses His delight in His people! Who could have conceived of the eternal One as bursting forth into a song? Yet it is written, "He will take great delight in you, He will rejoice over you with singing!" As He looked upon the world He had made, He said, "It is very good". But when He beheld those who are the purchase of Jesus' blood, His own chosen ones, it seemed as if the great heart of the Infinite could restrain itself no longer but overflowed in divine exclamations of joy.

Should not we utter our grateful response to such a marvelous declaration of His love, and sing, "I will rejoice in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

[James Smith]

Jeremiah 32:41 … Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Isaiah 62:5 … For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

Zephaniah 3:17 … The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

The Escape Route

You may not be able to predict the time of a tornado, earthquake or the Lord's return. But you can know for a fact that He is coming back. Work today to share the escape route of God's grace with others, before the night cometh.

[David Jeremiah]

John 14:2-3 ... In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Zephaniah 2:3 ... Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger.

Isaiah 26:20 ... Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ... For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Luke 21:36 ... Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

His Bride, His Delight

It is the consciousness of the threefold joy of the Lord, His joy in ransoming us, His joy in dwelling within us as our Saviour and Power for fruit bearing and His joy in possessing us, as His Bride and His delight; it is the consciousness of this joy which is our real strength. Our joy in Him may be a fluctuating thing: His joy in us knows no change.

[Husdon Taylor]

Zephaniah 3:17 ... The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Psalm 45:6-7 ... Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Isaiah 62:5 ... For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

Jesus Is Coming!

Jesus is coming! sing the glad word!
Coming for those He redeemed by His blood;
Coming to reign as the glorified Lord!
Jesus is coming again!

Jesus is coming! the dead shall arise,
Loved ones shall meet in a joyful surprise,
Caught up together to Him in the skies.
Jesus is coming again!

Jesus is coming! His saints to release;
Coming to give to the warring earth peace:
Sinning and sighing, and sorrow, shall cease.
Jesus is coming again!

Jesus is coming! the promise is true;
Who are the chosen, the faithful, the few,
Waiting and watching, prepared for review?
Jesus is coming again!

[Daniel W. Whittle]

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ... The Man "Jesus"

Over 2000 years ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of nature.

This man was reared in obscurity. Earthly riches were not important to Him.

He did not travel extensively, only once did He cross the boundary of the country in which He lived and that was during His exile in childhood to Egypt.

In infancy He startled a king; in childhood He amazed Jewish leaders, in manhood He ruled the course of nature, walking upon the billows as if pavement.

He hushed the sea to sleep. He healed multitudes without medicine and made no charge for His service.

He never wrote a book, and yet all the libraries of the country could not hold the books that have been written about Him.

He never wrote a song, and yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all the songwriters combined.

He never founded a college, but all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students.

He never practiced psychiatry and yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near.

Names of great scientists, philosophers, and theologians have come and gone; but the name of this Man abounds more and more.

Herod the Great could not destroy Him and the grave could not hold Him.

His name stands highest of heavenly glory, acknowledged by angels and feared by devils.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."

As the living personal Christ, the Messiah and Saviour, the Redeemer of man, here is God's appointed sacrifice for sins.

Long ago God's divine principle was established, that "Without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin."

Today God, in wondrous love tells us, "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son, cleanseth us from all sin."

Jesus is the only one that has fulfilled all of the scriptures regarding Messiah's birth, ministry, death and resurrection.

There are over 300 Prophetic scriptures in the Old Testament concerning Messiah's incarnation. Jesus fulfilled them all.

Great is the mystery of godliness God was manifest in the flesh in order that He might die for you.

He came to earth but was rejected by the people as their King at that time.

He is going to come to this earth again and then He will be accepted as not only King of the Jews, but as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Time here on earth is short. Eternity is forever. Soon Jesus will return to claim His believers.
