The Resurrection of Christ

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.



On the cross ~

1.“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34
(He asked for forgiveness for those who crucified Him)

2. “Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
(He promised the penitent thief he would meet the Lord in paradise that very day)

3.“Woman, behold thy son!” Then saith he to the disciple, “Behold thy mother!” John 19:26-27
(He made provision for the care of His mother by the apostle John)

4.“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Mark 15:34
(He made a statement of isolation. Psalm 22:1)

5."I thirst!' " (John 19:28)
(He expressed physical agony when He acknowledged His thirst)

6.“It is finished” John 19:30
(He made a statement of victory, not defeat)

7.“Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit” Luke 23:46
(He breathed His last. Psalm 31:5)





Matthew 27:59-60 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. (KJV)

Matthew 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. (KJV)
