1 John Exam

1. Do you enjoy having fellowship with Christ and His redeemed people? That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.  1 John 1:3

2. Would people say you walk in the light, or walk in the darkness?
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.   1 John 1:6-7

3. Do you admit and confess your sin?
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  1 John 1:8

4. Are you obedient to God’s Word?
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.  1 John 2:3-5

5. Does your life indicate you love God rather than the world?
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  1 John 2:15

6. Is your life characterized by “doing what is right”?
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.  1 John 2:29

7. Do you seek to maintain a pure life?
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.  1 John 3:3

8. Do you see a decreasing pattern of sin in your life?
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.  1 John 3:5-6

9. Do you demonstrate love for other Christians?
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1 John 3:14

10. Do you “walk the walk,” versus just “talking the talk”?
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.  And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.  1 John 3:18-19

11. Do you maintain a clear conscience?
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.  1 John 3:21

12. Do you experience victory in your Christian walk?
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4
