What if Noah was already a shipbuilder from decades of working on boats? If so, it makes sense that God would have positioned Noah in a place early on in his life where he would be trained in the area of boats, not knowing that God would reveal his true purpose when he got older.
Never underestimate why God has placed you where you are right now. You don't know the future, and you can't see what God is doing behind the scenes of your life. Stick with it, and don't give up.
