The true Christian consists of:
1. Repentance
2. Self-denial
3. Following Christ
4. Obedience
These are nor "works."
This is what happens when a true conversion has taken place.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of; (2 Corinthians 7:10)
He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30)
Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. (Matthew 4:19)
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Hebrews 5:9)
