Caterpillar Preachers all their lives remain self-indulgent consumers and they teach others to do the same.
Caterpillar Preachers (CP) say, “You don’t have to die, ‘Jesus paid it all’.
CP Preachers say God and the Holy Spirit would never convict you of sin or correct you.
CP Preachers say, “Turn to your neighbor and say, ‘You’re a butterfly!’.”
So, those caterpillars that listened to the CP Preachers loved the idea of seeing themselves as butterflies and the ability to remain self-indulgent ‘consumers.
Many followed the same pattern of the Caterpillar Preachers as they persecuted and mocked the Butterfly Preacher who teaches you ‘must submit to the Vine (Jesus), cocoon in real trust (intimacy with God), and die to the old self-indulgent ways.
Many who never read their Bibles or who only trust someone else’s ‘Preaching’ (cherry picked and twisted scriptures) fall prey to the seductive lure of false doctrines.
They miss the real intimacy with God, The Way, The Truth and The Life that God is calling each one of us to.
The entire Word of God, beginning to end, is about restoration and redemption through the cross.
Obviously, Jesus is the only way to the Father, and He opened The Way for each one of us.
Those who repent and cling to The Vine, dying to the old is key, but the cocoon of intimacy with the Holy Spirit is where the miracle really happens.
Jesus warns in Matthew 6:24,
“No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Jesus said, “and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.”
Paul says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
1 Timothy 6:3-21 the Amplified Version does such an excellent job describing in detail and exposing the false doctrine of what many call ‘greasy grace’ and/or certain ‘prosperity doctrines.
Paul goes into important detail as he encourages Timothy by contrasting the true doctrine from the false.
Too good not to share!
“If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine and teaching which is in agreement with godliness (personal integrity, upright behavior), ((🦋 TRANSFORMATION)) he is conceited and woefully ignorant [understanding nothing]. He has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, which produces envy, quarrels, verbal abuse, evil suspicions, and perpetual friction between men who are corrupted in mind and deprived of the truth, who think that godliness is a source of profit, a lucrative, money-making business ((withdraw from them)).

But godliness actually is a source of great gain when accompanied by contentment [that contentment which comes from a sense of inner confidence based on the sufficiency of God]. For we have brought nothing into the world, so [it is clear that] we cannot take anything out of it, either. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who are not financially ethical and crave to get rich with a compulsive, greedy longing for wealth] fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction leading to personal misery.
For the love of money that is, the greedy desire for it and the willingness to gain it unethically is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves through and through with many sorrows.
But as for you, O man of God, flee from these things; aim at and pursue righteousness true goodness, moral conformity to the character of God, godliness [the fear of God], faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness.
Fight the good fight of the faith [in the conflict with evil]; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and for which you made the good confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses. I solemnly charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and in the presence of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession in His testimony before Pontius Pilate, to keep all His precepts without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about in His own time. He who is the blessed and only Sovereign the absolute Ruler, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords, He alone possesses immortality absolute exemption from death and lives in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal power and dominion! Amen.
As for the rich in this present world, instruct them not to be conceited and arrogant, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share with others. In this way storing up for themselves the enduring riches of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
O Timothy, guard and keep safe the deposit of godly truth entrusted to you, turn away from worldly and godless chatter with its profane, empty words, and the contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge” which some have professed and by doing so have erred (missed the mark) and strayed from the faith.
Grace be with you.”
I hope this analogy helps you to understand the seductive and often hard to see difference between true doctrine and false doctrine.
