I'm big on education, but a proper one that involves the family structure, not the secular view that seems to be our new normal these days. The scripture says, "Train up a child when they are young, and when they are old, they will not depart from it" - instruction. (Proverbs 22:6) The idea is simple if parents teach their children in the early stages of development to make Christ the foundation when they are young and still developing cognitively. When they get older, they will remember the exact instructions that mom and dad gave them to fall back on when life becomes difficult to manage.
Teach a child to be a worker, and he/she will learn responsibility. Teach a child to be lazy and dependent upon others, then that same child, when they are older, will not have the coping skills needed to sustain his own life or the lives of those he or she has produced. They will become dependent upon the State.
Teach a child to be honest, studious, and a discerner of good moral character, and they will marry someone of the same values.
But allow a child no boundaries, no repercussions, and let them do whatever they want; then, when that child comes to adulthood, they will be rebellious, angry, bitter, or worse, sexually promiscuous.
This is why suicide is the #1 cause of early death of young people today.
If Christ is the center of the home, then children stand a chance as they grow older. But if Christ is not the center, rebellion will soon follow, leading to ruin. Trust me, if you fail to teach your child the principles of our faith when your child is young, at some point, society will teach them something else, and worse yet, the University will reinforce it, and you will be left with nothing to show for your fruit you hoped to have sown.
