Charlatans

Calling prophet Moe, prophet Curly, prophet Larry, come in, please... Nothing says confusion any more than the rampant rise of the recent Covid19 dilemma that seems to be sweeping the church today. It seems everybody has a now "word" for the hour for the virus - which none seems to have panned out as of late - and for the church. "Prophets" eager to make a name for themselves by being the one who "called it" in last year, assuring us all that they were the ones God chose to whisper his most inner secrets to concerning the future, our nation, and our world. How lucky we are.

Now there's inward fighting among the current slate of Charisma profiteers who are trying to out best the others as knowing what's coming in the next 3-12 months. From the rapture to Trump winning, and losing the White House, to riots in the streets, to a massive shaking on both sea coasts, and of course my personal favorite, the prophecies that come AFTER the event happens, followed by dreams that pastors swear they believe in. Is it me, or does God seem confused by all of this prophesying happening right now? I say God is not confused, but shaking his head at the foolishness of the current situation within the body. This is why I understand Calvinist Cessationists and their rejection of the gifts of prophecy because WE made these whack-jobs possible and given voices to charlatans who are nothing more than modern-day, 21st Century snake-oil salesmen. And I don't back away from anything that I've just stated. But my deep and sincere apologies to Cessationists everywhere, it's not you, it's us.

Look, I believe in prophecy, but not their version of it. I also believe that genuine men and women walking today somewhere on this great big ball that we call earth, that there are individuals who truly have that position/calling, but God has kept them from the insanity of the modern-day circus that seems to only permeate the American church currently. In other words, they are far from being the celebrity the Western church wants to make them. So forgive me if I sigh and shake my head at the latest "dream", or "vision" a pastor might have or the latest field trip to that special locale of heaven Jeremiah or Shawn, or Todd, or any other liar wants to tell us, then proceed to write it in their book which can then be purchased for a mere $29.95 "love gift", while they pimp their latest con job to Uncle Sid Roth. This is the reality show that God is trying to warn us about not to become invested in because it's NOT real. As I stated previously, yes, God does reveal, at times, prophetic events that are to come, but it always aligns itself with the word. The problem is, it just doesn't sell enough books for us to believe it.

Nyuck - nyuck - nyuck.

 [Christopher Gregory]

Acts 20:28-29 ... Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.  For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
