So many leaving the faith, so many calling it quits with their belief in God, the Bible, and the deity of Christ. No one just wakes up one day and says to themselves, "I just don't believe it anymore" and suddenly becomes an agnostic or even an atheist. No, their brain just didn't flip a switch to unbelief, it was a process, the process of allowing another idea, another way, another belief to slowly chip away at what they knew to be true, that's when the lie became reality, but never overnight.
Unfortunately, the Bible is full of believers who sadly turned from the faith, Judas, Demas among others, guided by unbelief, they no longer could carry the banner of truth without question. But they weren't the only ones, and they won't be the last either.
I honestly don't understand why some will depart from the faith other than something traumatic that has taken place in their life, be it religious betrayal, divorce, death of a child or parent, or a loss of self. Others gave themselves over to Intellectualism, inspired by the University, reading after scribes who by their own admission reject God, and his truth. Either way, it's never easy to see someone lose their way and eventually lose their faith.
Can they recover? Absolutely. But the problem is that if they continue down that path the ability to turn from what they knew as truth will become harder, for that is the snare Satan has cleverly designed a spider's web of deceit that many can't escape from. But with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)
I just hope and pray that there is still time.
