Power of Prayer

Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.

[Oswald Chambers]

1 Thessalonians 5:17 ... Pray without ceasing.

Romans 12:12 ... Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Ephesians 6:18 ... Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Philippians 4:6 ... Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Colossians 4:2 ... Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

James 5:16 ... Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. ♥

The Butterfly

The air is full of butterflies,
Flying so effortlessly in the sky.
No weight they carry, to hold them down.
Never a worry or a frown.

And yet not long ago, they were,
A crawling little caterpillar.
I wonder if they knew they'd be,
A beautiful butterfly flying so free.

They do not question how long they'll live,
But are happy with each day God gives.
They trust that he will always provide,
whatever they need to survive.

So learn to trust and fly away,
from cares and worries of today.
See how beautiful life can be,
Rely on Jesus, to supply your needs.

Psalm 27:7 … Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Philippians 4:6-7 … Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:6-7 … Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Philippians 4:19 … But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. ♥

Shipwrecked

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. “God, how could you do this to me!” he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied.

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn’t lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.

My Chains Are Gone

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

[sung by: Chris Tomlin]

John 3:16 … For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 6:22 … But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

John 8:36 … If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. ♥

There is a God

A little girl asked her mother: “How did the human race appear?” The mother answered: “God made Adam and Eve; they had children; and so was all mankind made.”

Two days later the girl asked her father the same question. The father answered: “Many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved.”

The confused girl returned to her mother and said: “Mum, how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and my father said they developed from monkeys?”

The mother answered: “Well, Dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family, and your father told you about his.”

The Right Relationship

We must continually remind ourselves of the purpose of life. We are not destined to happiness, nor to health, but to holiness. Today we have far too many desires and interests, and our lives are being consumed and wasted by them. Many of them may be right, noble, and good, and may later be fulfilled, but in the meantime God must cause their importance to us to decrease. The only thing that truly matters is whether a person will accept the God who will make him holy. At all costs, a person must have the right relationship with God.

[Oswald Chambers]

1 Corinthians 1:9 … God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

John 17:3 … And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

2 Timothy 1:9 … Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Colossians 1:21-22 … And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

1 Peter 1:16 ... Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.♥

Strength Will Rise ... As We Wait Upon The Lord

There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them.

[Charles H. Spurgeon]

Hosea 12:6 … Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

Psalm 25:5 … Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Isaiah 40:31 … But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psalm 27:14 … Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. ♥

Immeasurable

Go, count the sands that form the earth,
The drops that make the mighty sea;
Go, count the stars of heavenly birth,
And tell me what their number be;
And thou shalt know loves mystery.

No measurement hath yet been found,
No lines or numbers that can keep
The sum of its eternal round,
The plummet of its endless deep,
Or heights to which its glories sweep.

Yes, measure love, when thou canst tell
The lands where seraphs have not trod,
The heights of heaven, the depths of hell,
And lay thy finite measuring-rod
On the Infinitude of God!

[Thomas C. Upham]

Psalm 36:5-7 … Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Ephesians 3:17-19 … That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. ♥

What A Friend We Have in Jesus

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he'll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

[written by: Joseph M. Scriven 1855]

2 Chronicles 20:7-9 … Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. ♥

The Stranger

A few months before I was born, my dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer, and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around to welcome me into the world a few months later.

As I grew up I never questioned his place in our family. Mom taught me to love the word of God, and dad taught me to obey it. But the stranger was our storyteller. He could weave the most fascinating tales. Adventures, mysteries and comedies were daily conversations. He could hold our whole family spell-bound for hours each evening.

If I wanted to know about politics, history, or science, he knew it all. He knew about the past, understood the present, and seemingly could predict the future. The pictures he could draw were so life like that I would often laugh or cry as I watched.

He was like a friend to the whole family. He took Dad, Bill and me to our first football game. He was always encouraging us to see the movies and he even made arrangements to introduce us to several movie stars.

The stranger was an incessant talker. Dad didn’t seem to mind but sometimes mom would quietly get up while the rest of us were enthralled with one of his stories of faraway places and go to her room, read her Bible and pray. I wonder now if she ever prayed that the stranger would leave.

You see, my dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions. But this stranger never felt obligation to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our house–not from us, from our friends, or adults. Our longtime visitor, however, used occasional four letter words that burned my ears and made dad squirm. To my knowledge the stranger was never confronted.

My dad was a teetotaler who didn’t permit alcohol in his home–not even for cooking. But the stranger felt like we needed exposure and enlightened us to other ways of life. He offered us beer and other alcoholic beverages often.

He made cigarettes look tasty, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (too much too freely) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing. I know now that my early concepts of the man-woman relationship were influenced by the stranger.

As I look back, I believe it was the grace of God that the stranger did not influence us more. Time after time he opposed the values of my parents. Yet he was seldom rebuked and never asked to leave.

More than thirty years have passed since the stranger moved in with the young family on Morningside Drive. He is not nearly so intriguing to my Dad as he was in those early years. But if I were to walk into my parents home today, you would still see him sitting over in a corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name? ... We always just called him … TV

Nothing But the Blood of Jesus

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

In The Army of God

I am a soldier in the army of my God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, Prayer, and the Word are my weapons of Warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity, and tested by fire.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity. I will either be raptured in this Army or die in this Army; But, I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. I am faithful, reliable, capable, and dependable. If my God needs, me, I am there. I am a soldier. I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up, or pepped up.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in place, saluting my King,

I am a soldier in the army of my God. Obeying His orders, praising His name, and building His Kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy, or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to. I am committed.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. When Jesus called me into this Army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will still come out even. I will win. My God will supply all my needs. I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. Devils cannot defeat me. People cannot disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me. Battles cannot beat me. Money cannot buy me. Governments cannot silence me, and hell cannot handle me!

I am a soldier in the army of my God. Even death cannot destroy me. For when my Commander calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me to a captain.

I am a soldier in the army of my God. in the Army, I'm marching, claiming victory. I will not give up. I will not turn around.

I am a soldier in the army of my God... marching Heaven bound... Here I stand!

The Rapture And Then, “All Hell On Earth”

This is a bible study to comfort those troubled by the present radio series, entitled “The Seven Years of Hell On Earth”. The rapture will, without question, occur before those seven horrible years. If you do not believe in the “Pre-Tribulation Rapture” there is no comfort for you.

Things you will learn in this study:

1. The Book of Genesis is absolute and literal.

2. The Ark and the flood was a model picture of the Pre-tribulation Rapture.

3. The judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah was also a type of the Rapture.

4. The daily tribulation we presently endure and the Great Tribulation are totally different.

5. God’s saints are loved and never made to suffer wrath with the wicked.

6. Jesus came to save and deliver His Church from the final wrath and judgment.

7. How could Jesus take His saints for His Bride after His wrath has bashed the life out of them.

8. The Rapture of the saints before the “HELL ON EARTH” is bedrock truth.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 ... For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (KJV)

The Man "Jesus"

Over 2000 years ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of nature.

This man was reared in obscurity. Earthly riches were not important to Him.

He did not travel extensively, only once did He cross the boundary of the country in which He lived and that was during His exile in childhood to Egypt.

In infancy He startled a king; in childhood He amazed Jewish leaders, in manhood He ruled the course of nature, walking upon the billows as if pavement.

He hushed the sea to sleep. He healed multitudes without medicine and made no charge for His service.

He never wrote a book, and yet all the libraries of the country could not hold the books that have been written about Him.

He never wrote a song, and yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all the songwriters combined.

He never founded a college, but all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students.

He never practiced psychiatry and yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near.

Names of great scientists, philosophers, and theologians have come and gone; but the name of this Man abounds more and more.

Herod the Great could not destroy Him and the grave could not hold Him.

His name stands highest of heavenly glory, acknowledged by angels and feared by devils.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."

As the living personal Christ, the Messiah and Saviour, the Redeemer of man, here is God's appointed sacrifice for sins.

Long ago God's divine principle was established, that "Without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin."

Today God, in wondrous love tells us, "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son, cleanseth us from all sin."

Jesus is the only one that has fulfilled all of the scriptures regarding Messiah's birth, ministry, death and resurrection.

There are over 300 Prophetic scriptures in the Old Testament concerning Messiah's incarnation. Jesus fulfilled them all.

Great is the mystery of godliness God was manifest in the flesh in order that He might die for you.

He came to earth but was rejected by the people as their King at that time.

He is going to come to this earth again and then He will be accepted as not only King of the Jews, but as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Time here on earth is short. Eternity is forever. Soon Jesus will return to claim His believers.

God's Rainbow

The falling rain dissolves into mist,
And the thunder begins to die.
As the sporadic lightening fades,
An arch of color pours from the sky.

Rainbows appear after mighty storms,
When things look their worst.
Just when the sky is darkest grey,
Out of Heaven does a rainbow burst.

God first sent the rainbow to Noah,
As a sign that His Word is true.
The rainbow’s eternal message,
Still speaks to me and you.

The rainbow is a sign of God's promise,
That He will guide us through any storm.
That He will ease all our troubles,
No matter what their form.

When you feel battered by life's storms,
And you are filled with doubt and dismay,
Just remember God's rainbow is coming,
For it's blessing you have only to pray.

Called Out

May the things of this world so lose their power over us that we do not in the slightest wish to be "worldly"; nay, we even delight in not remaining "in the world."

The Cross and The Towers

September 11, 2001 - A day that will never be forgotten. A day when ordinary men and women would face the unbelievable, and experience what few ever dreamed or thought possible: A terrorist attack in the heart of New York claiming nearly three thousand lives and leaving a scene of incomprehensible destruction.

As rescue and recovery began, a select group of men and women would be forced to endure their worst nightmare: living and working within ground zero. Day after day they worked to restore the broken city. As weeks turned into months a feeling of desperation and despair overwhelmed the hearts and minds of these people.

Yet in the midst of the devastation, an amazing discovery would bring hope when it was needed most. Some called it a mere phenomenon, others saw it as miraculous….

“It's a story about hope in the midst of devastation when hope is nowhere to be found. It's an answer from God when we ask Him ... Where are you? It's a story that everyone need to see because it can be an encouragement in our darkest hour.” [quote by Scott Perkins]

Ten Indications That Our Soul Needs A Spiritual Awakening

1) When sin is the pattern of our lives.

2) When we accommodate broken relationships.

3) When we no longer receive the Word of God with joy and expectancy.

4) When prayer and worship become rituals and chores.

5) When we don’t grieve over those who don’t know Christ.

6) When we love the world more than we love Jesus.

7) When we no longer fear God.

8) When we no longer view God as our only hope.

9) When we have to be “sold” or entertained for worship to be meaningful.

10) When “professionalism” has replaced reliance on the Holy Spirit.

At the Foot of the Cross

At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received

And You've won my heart
Yes, You've won my heart

Now I can…
Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down

At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death you bore for me

And You've won my heart
Yes, You've won my heart

Now I can…
Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down

At the foot of the cross

I trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down

I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

[sung by: Kathryn Scott]

No Compromise

Yeshua Jesus wants to lead us to abundant blessings in His Glory. But, compromise is outside of God’s nature. Everything about Him is absolute. Live your life in obedience without compromise, and you will see the hand of God at work in your life. ℛℒ

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 … And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

More Than A Friend

In the quiet of my soul
In the stillness
I hear Your voice call
And I am overwhelmed
And I am lost for words
To describe You

Jesus You're more than a friend
Jesus You're more than my heart could ever express
Your love and Your grace never fail me
Your merciful touch always heals me
You bring joy to my soul

Joy to my soul…

My heart longs to worship You my King
And I long to bring You a pleasing offering
And I am overwhelmed
And I am lost for words
To describe You

Jesus You're more than a friend
Jesus You're more than my heart could ever express
Your love and Your grace never fail me
Your merciful touch always heals me
You bring joy to my soul

Jonah

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales and how she had heard in Sunday School about how a whale had swallowed Jonah.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl remained steadfast in her position and reiterated that indeed, a whale had swallowed Jonah.

Irritated, the teacher again stated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "I'm not sure how it happened, but when I get to heaven I will ask Jonah."

The teacher replied smugly, "What if Jonah isn't in heaven?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him."

The Wise Woman’s Stone

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone in the wise woman’s bag, admired it, and asked the wise woman to give it to him. The wise woman did so without hesitation.

The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the jewel was worth enough to give him security for the rest of his life.

But a few days later he came back, searching for the wise woman. When he found her, he returned the stone and said, “I have been thinking. I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back to you in the hope that you can give me something much more precious. If you can, give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.

At the Heart Of It All

Flowers splash with color, Perfect treasures of art.
More than a feast for the eyes, Their beauty reaches the heart.

The sunset is a painting, Far beyond all works of men.
And it also speaks of hope, To all who will stop and listen.

All of nature is a gift, Waiting to be unraveled,
Filled with hidden roads for souls, That are ready to be traveled.

And behind this beauty there is: Someone at the heart of it all.
Behold! There stands the Creator, Waiting for us to hear His call!

[Benjamin Graber]

Colossians 1:16-17 … For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Revelation 4:11 … Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. ♥

Fable of the Porcupine

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.

After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.

Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the warmth that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

Moral of the story: The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person’s good qualities.
