God's Unmerited Favor

Grace is a gift.  We cannot earn it.  We cannot save ourselves.  We cannot make ourselves worthy of God.  But God has given Himself so that we can receive His grace by faith in Yeshua Jesus.   We can be made righteous with Him.  Grace truly is God’s unmerited favor for all who are ready to receive it.ℛℒ





Ephesians 2:8-9 .... For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 5:19 ... For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Hebrews 4:16 ... Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. ❤

The Substitute

In a tribe of Indians, or so the story goes, someone was stealing chickens. The Chief declared that, if caught, the offender would receive 10 lashes.  When the stealing continued, he raised it to 20 lashes. Still the chickens methodically disappeared. In anger the Chief raised the sentence to 100 lashes. The thief was finally caught, but the Chief faced a terrible dilemma.

The thief was his mother! When the day of penalty came, the whole tribe gathered. Would the Chief's love override his justice? The crowd gasped when he ordered his mother to be tied to the whipping post.

The Chief removed his shirt, revealing his powerful stature, and took the whip in hand. But instead of raising it to strike the first blow, he handed it to a strong, young brave standing at his side. Slowly the Chief walked over to his mother and wrapped his massive arms around her in an engulfing embrace.

Then he ordered the brave to give him the 100 lashes. That's what JESUS did for you and me when he came to earth clothed in an external garment of human flesh some 2000 years ago. In love he became our substitute and died in our place to pay the penalty for all our sins. He overcame our inability to save ourselves by paying the price for our sins. His death bridged the gulf between God and man and made it possible for us to be reconciled to God and to be restored to fellowship with him through faith in Christ and in his atoning death for.

Gifts of the Spirit

The gifts of the Spirit are given not just for the Believer alone, but for the Body of Christ; to edify, to strengthen, to feed it, to exhort it, to encourage, to build up, and to have the Body empowered to do the work of Christ. Spiritual gifts are not developed by our human ability. The Spirit of God gives Believers the gifts as He wills. Some have several, some have few, but every Believer should desire spiritual gifts. (1 Corinthians 14:1) The gifts of the Spirit are always to exalt the Lord, to witness of God’s power, and to share Yeshua Jesus, the gospel of salvation, with the lost. Amen. ℛℒ

Match Made in Heaven

Consumed by my loss, I didn’t notice the hardness of the pew where I sat. I was at the funeral of my dearest friend — my mother. She finally had lost her long battle with cancer. The hurt was so intense, I found it hard to breathe at times.

Always supportive, mother clapped loudest at my school plays, held a box of tissues while listening to my first heartbreak, comforted me at my father’s death, encouraged me in college, and prayed for me my entire life.

When mother’s illness was diagnosed, my sister had a new baby and my brother had recently married his childhood sweetheart, so it fell on me, the 27-year-old middle child without entanglements, to take care of her. I counted it an honor.

"What now, Lord?" I asked sitting in church. My life stretched out before me as an empty abyss. My brother sat stoically with his face toward the cross while clutching his wife’s hand.

My sister sat slumped against her husband’s shoulder, his arms around her as she cradled their child. All so deeply grieving, no one noticed I sat alone. My place had been with our mother, preparing her meals, helping her walk, taking her to the doctor, seeing to her medication, reading the Bible together. Now she was with the Lord. My work was finished and I was alone.

I heard a door open and slam shut at the back of the church. Quick footsteps hurried along the carpeted floor. An exasperated young man looked around briefly and then sat next to me. He folded his hands and placed them on his lap. His eyes were brimming with tears.

He began to sniffle. "I’m late," he explained, though no explanation was necessary. After several eulogies, he leaned over and commented, "Why do they keep calling Mary by the name of Margaret?"

"Oh, because that was her name, Margaret. Never Mary. No one called her Mary," I whispered. I wondered why this person couldn’t have sat on the other side of the church. He interrupted my grieving with his tears and fidgeting. Who was this stranger anyway?

"No, that isn’t correct," he insisted, as several people glanced over at us whispering,  "Her name is Mary, Mary Peters."

"That isn’t who this is," I replied.

"Isn’t this the Lutheran church?"

"No, the Lutheran church is across the street."

"Oh."

"I believe you’re at the wrong funeral, Sir."

The solemnness of the occasion mixed with the realization of the man’s mistake bubbled up inside me and came out as laughter. I cupped my hands over my face, hoping it would be interpreted as sobs.

The creaking pew gave me away. Sharp looks from other mourners only made the situation seem more hilarious. I peeked at the bewildered, misguided man seated beside me. He was laughing, too, as he glanced around, deciding it was too late for an uneventful exit.

I imagined mother laughing.

At the final "Amen" we darted out a door and into the parking lot. "I do believe we’ll be the talk of the town," he smiled.  He said his name was Rick and since he had missed his aunt’s funeral, asked me out for a cup of coffee.

That afternoon began a lifelong journey for me with this man who attended the wrong funeral, but was in the right place.

A year after our meeting, we were married at a country church where he was the assistant pastor.

This time we both arrived at the same church, right on time.

In my time of sorrow ... God gave me laughter.
In place of loneliness ... God gave me love.

This past June we celebrated our twenty-second wedding anniversary. Whenever anyone asks us how we met, Rick tells them, "Her mother and my Aunt Mary introduced us, and it’s truly a match made in heaven."

Wanted ~

Working Together

Nothing whatever, whether great or small, can happen to a believer, without God's ordering and permission. Always There

Hello God, I called tonight, To talk a little while. I need a friend who'll listen, To my anxiety and trial.

You see, I can't quite make it, Through a day just on my own. I need your love to guide me, So I'll never feel alone.


I want to ask you please to keep, My family safe and sound. Come and fill their lives with confidence, For whatever fate they're bound.

Homosexuality is Sin

Homosexuals are not "born that way."  The truth is that every one of us is born with a sinful nature. (Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:23,   Ecclesiastes 7:20)  But, children are not born gay nor does that excuse or justify unrepentant sin. 


If we defend homosexual behavior, do we then defend stealing?  Do we defend lying?   Do we defend murder?   These too are sin.


The unbelieving world is embracing the act of homosexuality. They are in serious error. God says that this conduct is vile, unclean, unnatural and an abomination. 

True believers will either stand firm on the Word of God, or they will cave in to the politically correct, and become part of the last-days apostasy. (Matthew 24:10-11, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Scripture also tells us that homosexual behavior leads a person straight to a "reprobate mind" and that these are  "haters of God."

Warning others about homosexuality is not hate language; it is Biblical Truth.   Nor is this passing judgment; God has already judged this behavior in His Word. 

God loves people.  He loves them so much that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)   But, God also commands sinners to repent. (Mark 1:15)

The Word of God is perfectly clear on this matter - homosexuality is sin. ℛℒ
  





Romans 1:24-32 …  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

The Dentist

"I don't believe in God" said the dentist.

"Why" I asked. "How can God exist and allow so much suffering and pain in the world?"

"I don't believe in Dentists" I replied.

The dentist looked at me confused, so I asked "If there's dentists in the world, why do so many people have broken, infected and missing teeth?"

The dentist then replied "I can't help anyone who does not come to me to have their teeth fixed."


I then said, "that is the same way with God. He cannot help people who insist on doing it their way and never come to Him."

Ten Guidelines From God

Effective immediately, please be aware that there are changes that you need to make in your life. These changes need to be completed in order that I may fulfill My promises to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in this life.  Please follow these ten guidelines:

1 - QUIT WORRYING- Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your burden and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that comes your way?

2 - PUT IT ON THE LIST- Something needs doing or taken care of. Put it on the list. No, not your list. Put it on My to-do list.  Let Me be the one to take care of the problem. I can’t help you until you turn it over to Me.  And although My to-do list is long, I am after all…God. I can take care of anything you put into my hands. In fact if the truth were ever really known, I can take care of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.

3 - TRUST ME- Once you’ve given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs; your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on My list. Problem with finances? Put it on My list. Problems with your emotional roller coaster?  For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

4 - LEAVE IT ALONE- Don’t wake up one morning and say “Well, I’m feeling much stronger now. I think I can handle it from here.” Why do you think you are feeling stronger now? It’s simple. You gave Me your burdens and I’m taking care of them. I also renew your strength and cover you in My peace. Don’t you know that if I give you these problems back, you will be right back where you started? Leave them with Me and forget about them. Just let Me do My job.

5 - TALK TO ME- I want you to forget a lot of things. Forget what was making you crazy.  Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I’m in control. But there’s one thing I pray you never forget.  Please don’t forget to talk to Me- often!  I love you!  I want to hear your voice. I want you to include Me in the things going on in your life.  I want to hear you talk about your friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a conversation with Me. I want to be your dearest friend.

6 - HAVE FAITH- I see a lot of things from up here that you can’t see from where you are. Have faith in Me that I know what I’m doing. Trust me; you wouldn’t want the view from My eyes. I will continue to care for you , watch over you, and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me. Although I have a much bigger task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble just doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

7 - SHARE- You were taught to share when you were only two years old. When did you forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who are less fortunate than you. Share your joy with those who need encouragement. Share your laughter with those who haven’t heard any in such a long time. Share your tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith with those who have none.

8 - BE PATIENT- I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could have so many diverse experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have children, change jobs many times, learn many trades, travel to so many places, meet thousands of people, and experience so much. How can you be so impatient then when it takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle something on My to-do list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect. Just because I created the entire universe in only six days, everyone thinks I should always, rush, rush, rush.

9 - BE KIND- Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I love you. They may not dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way you do, but still I love you all. Please try to get along, for My sake. I created each of you different in some way. It would be too boring if you were all identical. Please, know I love each of your differences.

10 - LOVE YOURSELF- As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself? You were created by Me for one reason only—to be loved, and to love in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me. Love your neighbors. But also love yourself. It makes My heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself when things go wrong. You are very precious to Me. Don’t ever forget.

The Parable of the Spilled Coffee

A Bible study group met in a home to study how various ministries should work in the body of Christ. One member commented, “I don’t understand how different gifts can work together.”

At that moment a woman accidentally dropped her cup, which broke and spilled coffee all over the floor. Each group member responded differently to the mishap, according to their spiritual gifts.


The teacher gave some advice. “Next time if you will put your cup on the coffee table, that won’t happen again.”


The administrator responded by organizing a clean-up committee. “Bill, please go find a mop. Sally, could you help him with a towel?”


Bill, who had the gift of service, hurried to get the mop.


Sally, who had the gift of helps, followed Bill and said, “I’ll help you!” 


The person with the gift of exhortation said, “We all make mistakes so don’t let it get you down.”


The person with the gift of mercy put her arm around the woman, patted her hand and said, “I feel so badly for you.”


The person with the gift of giving exclaimed, “I’ll buy a new set of coffee mugs to replace the broken one!”


They all used their various gifts together to resolve the situation.

Temple of the Holy Ghost ~



What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.  For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 2 Corinthians 4:10-11  🕊

In Heaven

There’ll be no unemployment in heaven. No worry about the next meal. There’ll be no bills to harass us, and thieves will not break in and steal.

In heaven, we’ll have no need for money; Everything up there will be free. We’ll enjoy God’s unsearchable riches, and have unending security.
I’m looking forward to heaven, that land that is fairer than day. Where all will be joy and gladness, and sorrow and care will flee away.
Up there, no mean words will be spoken. Each heart will be filled with pure love. We’ll never be hurt or rejected, in the beautiful city above.

There will be no disappointment or heartache. God will wipe all the tears from our eyes.  No one will ever be lonely and there’ll be no anguished good-byes.

Up there, the love we have for each other, by each heart will be shared equally. And we’ll have all the things that we’ve longed for, and at last we will really be free.

Belief in God

Psalm 40:1-3 ...  I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

1 Peter 1:21 ... Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Daddy ... Send Me

The Lord of the Heavens looked down to the Garden, The snake in the tree talked to Eve. His view of what happened left no other choice, He asked the young couple to leave.

Eve bore two sons, one murdered the other, Justice in Heaven must be. Lord of the Heavens said, “What can be done?” A voice answered, “Daddy...send Me.”

Judges were sent to the earth to correct, Enshrined are these in Bible history. Yet, though they prayed, the people still strayed; Again the voice, “Daddy...send Me.”

Across the countless ages, throughout Bible pages, Ignored was the Prophet’s decree. Vengeance was reaped and the Lord’s people weeped; Came the voice, “Please Daddy...send Me.”

The Lord of the Heavens then planted a seed, That someday would grow to a tree. With a tear in His eye, He turned and He spoke, “As a last resort, Son...I’ll send Thee.”

1 Thessalonians 4

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.



But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
